I know this subject has been touched on somewhat and I just recently read about an older male cat beginning to, shall we say, become romantic. My one 8 month old male kitty is becoming quite romantic with my other 8 month old male. Both are neutered. The "romantic" one was neutered at 8 weeks old at the Humane Society where we got him and the other kitty was neutered at 6 months old. He is totally not interested and wiggles away but doesn't seem upset. At first I thought it was just play as they do get a long very well. They play, wrestle, chase each other, snuggle and groom each other. This new behavior, which has increased this past week, consists of constant "trilling" and assuming the position and so on. Nobody seems too bothered by it. I'm really just wondering if this is normal and if this is just a stage. I'm hoping no more behaviors such as spraying come out of this. Hoepfully it won't get worse and cause a problem. I have a dog who was fixed as a puppy and once in awhile seems to have "feelings" but he doesn't go quite as far as our kitty. Thanks!

I'm bumping this to the top. I don't have anything helpful for you. Hopefully someone who has seen this behavior in the past can give you some insight.

I also have a neutered male who has become quite a charmer with my new female, unspayed female (she goes next thursday to be). I'm not sure what to do either..my cat, Sam, is about 9 months old and my kids noticed Sally giving him a "piggyback ride". Im hoping its a phase they will outgrow.

Thanks for the responses. This is such a great site. I've learned so much!! I guess I'm not going to be concerned about it. Things seem to be winding down anyway and it really didn't seem to be a problem. I was more curious than anything. My guess is that it was a stage. They are still kittens and I wouldn't be surprised to see it again. Unless they are fighting because of it, or there are some serious behaviors happening, I'll just not worry. :-) Right now my sweetie kitties are are all snuggled together, keeping each other warm. I'm so happy that they get along so well. Aren't kitties awesome!? Thanks again.
