I have four kittens and tonight one seems to have come down with diarreha suddenly, in the past hour he's unfortunately leaked twice and rolled around in it. I received some nice scratches from trying to clean it up.

A few days ago I noticed a solid poo but not sure from who and tonight one has come down with diarreha, they've been eating mums food which is kitten and adult food mixed together so could this be the cause and should I start separating them for feeding or could it be something major? All the others seem to be fine. He's also still running around and playing, doesn't seem to be in pain or discomfort he's just leaky.

Also it is a light brown colour and while very watery it has a few former bits in it

You can always begin with pedialyte as drinking water.   Bought or home-made.  Bought is best flavorless for babies.  When Im home, I will send some home-made recipes.

Thank you, much appreciated. I'll be ringing the vet in the morning to hopefully get some answers and book them in. :)

Here is an conserved answer, I think its useful heree too.

Om pedialyte:   http://www.thecatsite.com/t/301213/pedialyte-question-6-week-old-kitten#post_3778057

You can perhaps get her some probiotics, to stabilize her intestine bacterias. PetAgs  BeneBac is excellent, so is  "S.  boulardii"   These are the two probably best, but there are surely also other useful. BeneBac especially useful for small orphans.

Even a common, sugarfree, full fat mild yoghurt is useful.  Especielly if it contains added bacteria of Acidofilus s and Bifidus...

There is a greek youghurt brand called   Fage sold in USA, which contain these bacteria.   This youghurt should be quite optimal.

I'll have a LOOKN around for some of these products in australia, thank you. He seems all better this morning, I gave him a wipe down with a damp towel rather than a bath as he is still pretty small and just the towel alone was scary enough.

I think it may be due to changing there food as the mothers poo has also changed over the last few days and is more like solid diarreha, it's happened before as we've had this food but not to the kittens, so I've spoken with my parents and I'm not going to give them that kitten food anymore and will have to wait till Monday before we can get more due to being tight on money so I may just need to use some of Mums biscuits and mix them with kitten milk for the babies and give mum her adult food separately.

I think that getting him to a vet to get tested out is a good idea, if it is a parasite or bacterial infection the sooner you start treatments the better. Also, you don't want the others to get it. Let us know how things are progressing good luck.

The little one has been much better today, I spoke with the vet and he's advised me to change there food back to what they were eating because that is most likely the cause due to Mums poo also changing from the food change. And see how we go. I loosely tied some ribbon around each of their tails and I noticed that he went to the toilet in the cat litter just before (the first one to, I was so proud) and his poo was definetly firmer than it was last night. The vet took a sample and gave them a clean bill of health just from looking at them, we've arranged for mum to be desexed in the next few weeks as my calculations were off as babies are 5 and a half weeks and are not as reliant on mum anymore especially for feeding.

All babies are fine today and so is mum, all poo is also returning to normal so I think it was just the food and the change in food that they were consuming. :)
