Our 10 months Willie was castrated 2 weeks ago. We decided to do it as soon as we noticed the first signs of "wanderlust"; he hadn't started spraying by that time. For some reason he is still restless after the surgery, extremely active and is constantly trying to escape from the villa by opening the windows. When will his hormones go down? How much time does it normally take?

He may want to go out anyways.  He perhaps has too little to do in the home?  At this age they are very active.

(If he wasnt very territorial and dominant male, his hormon niveous should  be visibly lower now. But it may take a couple-four weeks more.)

A cat companion often helps!

ps. was he used to be outside / inside earlier?  If so, it may be extra difficult to make them pure inside cats.
