I'm trying to get advice my kitten has worms and I gave him a dewormer and flee combo spot on that the vet gave me on the 10th of December he's not due his next one till the 10th of Jan and I noticed the other day that the worms are cumming out alive. As far a I know they are supposed to be dead when cumming out so I rang the vet to querie it and they said that the wormer I've got will detach them from the intestine so they will come out but they may still be Alive depending on where they are in their life cycle so not to worrie everything is fine that was a week ago and they are still cumming out quite a lot of them and they are still alive I no the vet said it was fine but it's concerning my partner he thinks we should ask for a tablet instead but the vet said that the tablets are the same percentage as the spot on for effectiveness so I just wanted to know if anyone has had a similar problem? And what would you do? He is due back at the vets on the 30th of this month? Xxxxx

You don't need another appointment to pick up deworming tablets - in canada anyways-as long as you have seen a vet in the past year, you can purchase over the counter 5 deworming tablets a year, good to stalk up. You have tapeworms I would ask for tablets they work instantly worms are absorbed never see any afterwards.  There is Drontal multiwormer or Droncit just for tape. Have no experience with the topical you describe.

I've always been told to give the 2nd pill 2 weeks after the first, to kill the eggs that  had been laid.  Maybe the eggs have hatched and you are back to square one.
