Hello everyone,

I got my kitten from a pet store and the vet there already gave her her first vaccinations and is following up with boosters.
However, I want her primary vet to be the one I used to go to before, so I want to switch vets.
My question is: is it ok and safe to switch vets when it comes to vaccinations? Because I know that each vet uses different brands of vaccinations.

Please reply, I have to take her to get her booster soon!
Thank you!

Its fine to switch vets
Just be sure to bring in a copy of what vaccinations your kitten has already be given and show it to the new vet. The new vet will determine when the next set of vaccinations need to be given and if the same brand can be given.

Agreed. I'd venture to say most shelter cats go through a "vet change", especially if the adopter already has a vet they go to. My Penelopy will be going to my vet starting the first week of the new year, and I just made sure to have all the paperwork regarding her vax. I'll actually be bringing all that in tomorrow when I bring Sara in.

My kittens also got vax'd (rabies and 2nd distemper) at a spay/neuter clinic when I had them neutered (was way more affordable than having it done at my vet). Their first distemper was done by my vet. So I have all that paperwork too for when they go back for their yearly visit in July.

Sounds good! She already has a book with that information so I'll just bring it with me :)
Thanks!
