This kitten has a typical body of an underfed undernourished kitten, just as I suspected, hasn't had nearly enough food for weeks now.

I've often thought when I rescue undernourished kittens how they look like ethiopians with their skinny boney bodies and a rounder tummy and normal sized head, just as the commercials show.

It takes vigilance but kitten can likely/hopefully be turned around.

But it's all up to you, please do not rely on the mom cat to feed, and you need to get a scale, that is the only way you can be instructed the correct amt needed of formula a day, and weighed daily we will know if it's not enough or not, since kitten needs to gain weight every single day.

Can you look at the gums and tell what color they are?

Either very pink, pale pink, pale pink/white-ish, white with a slight tint of pink, or pure white.

I agree, his proportions arent the most regular, so to speak. Unless he belongs to some local far far away breed,  I would be normally alarmed by such looks.
As you discissed earlier in the tread if he may have food more often than every 3hours, I suspect he is undernourished, really  being starved.  (what is the word for someone starved as much as being thin?)

So,  proceed with the feeding as often and as much you can manage.  Btw, did you told exactly WHAT brand of kmr you do use?
Use some mild baby pedialyte for diluting the kmr-powder.

Can you possibly get raw goat milk?  fresh or frozen - it could be an awesome alternative.   bottled / cartooned / powdered goat milk are too useful, better than for example some inferior brand of kmr - but not the same excellency as  raw goat milk.

The word you are looking for is emaciated. Great advice.

I only had powder the vet gave me which is nearly out as he only gave me a small ammount, ill buy some goat milk this afternoon
Good!
Ive taken him to my vet and he gave me the formula and bottle but he said there wasnt much else he could do
That was when he was around 2 or 3 weeks old
Ill try smearing a tiny bit of honey on his gums

I know he doesnt look too well at the moment, his development doesnt look right at 5 weeks from what ive seen but he is up and walking around this morning after some of his first feed so ill feed him again in an hour
Thankyou all for all this advice
You had probably discovered, the easiest way to smear some honey or glucose syrup, or  glucose sugar powder,  is to do in in water solution.  Ie, you solve some honey in warm water, and smear this lukewarm solution on the lips / gum...   The glucose sugar  goes directly into blood already from the lips and mouth. Works practically instantly often like a marvel.
The word you are looking for is emaciated. Great advice.
Yes, exactly.  Tx!  I see the experienced Catwoman has exactly the same impression.  As you had too.

His gums are a normal pink they arent pale or white, he has his little teeth coming through too, i will be buying a scale, goats milk this afternoon, its the only time i can get out and i will be feeding him constantly and not relying on mum anymore,
I feel awful i havent had any money to get a scale, i have just been paid so is there anything else i should be looking into? I am back to syringe feeding as he bit the teat on his bottle and i dont feel comfortable with how fast the milk comes out now so im buying two more of those
Any suggestions on anything else i will be needing?

Unflavored pedialyte for dehydration.  You can also give him a small stuffed friend if mom isn't snuggling with him.

Yeah it's hard to cut the nipple just the right size, so start small. I have ruined my share that's for sure!

They come in a multi pack with various sizes, at his age he will like the long skinny one I bet.

Either goat's milk or KMR, a scale for sure, and bottle/nipples should be fine. Pediolyte is good too but I don't think he is actually unwell from dehydration, but an over all lack of food, so feed all you can.

In order to get him to use the bottle well, he can't have mom to nurse from, they simply will refuse to adapt and will fight and squirm endlessly.

You might even try to see if he will drink on his own from a shallow dish.

Um, as a diabetic, I have to mention that glucose is just another name for sugar. Any kind of sugar dissolved in water will do. Make it thicker by using less water and more sugar.

Sugar goes straight into the blood stream Carbs have to be processed by the liver to turn them into sugar, and then into the blood stream.

You can perhaps borrow a scale from some neigbour?  In time of need, its socially acceptable to ask - and demanding for them to give / lend.

There was something more, I though on it during the night, but I dont remember at this moment...

Sugar dissolved in water take a little longer to hit the blood stream.
Sorry, nay, solved in water it goes quicker. Unless its something especial you are thinking on.  Water solution incereases the access area.

only in part. Glucose is the most basic sugar, this we do really need and really use inside the body.

For example, the usual table sugar is made of glucose sugar and fructose sugar, linked togehter.   So it must be processed and digested at first in the stomach, to come into blood.

While glucose goes straigh into blood already in the mouth.

So, in many instances you CAN use table sugar, its for example, in many emergency receips.  But glucose sugar, or something containing at least partly glucose sugar - for example honey - works quicker, often much quicker.

What exact sort of goat milk?

Now I remember what I though on during the night.   If you got raw milk, is all good and swell.

If its processed goat milk, try and get a full fat variation, ie at containing at least 2,8% fat, preferably 3-3,4.

If the goats milk is some diet low fat variation, you must add fat - perhaps a raw yolk of  eggs - hey, which is anyway a good idea, very nourishing - if you dont have problems with salomonella in eggs in your area..

Or some other fat source.   I will return after your report.

Also, some vitamine source coudl be good, ifyou can get it... there are several brands, I presume all will do the job.

Ouch, that is a good birthing weigh! unless you did some mistake at weighing (happens!) he should be at least thrice that, not a gramme below 360.

120g is about 4 ounces, x8 ml gives an absolute minimum of 32ml a day.
