I have a cat that had a blockage in April, he has been doing good. I have kept him only on canned food, he is needing lately which he had never done before, and he is just over two, I am wondering if this means he is not feeling well does anyone understand this any help would be appreciated. Pam

I think you have a typo in your original post. Can you clarify?

i think you might just have a small misspelling in your post - needing instead of kneading. If so, I've never heard that kneading was cause for concern. It's a hold over from when they were little kittens still nursing. A lot of cats do it. My old Milo used to do it on my chest when he wanted to be held, Chula does it before she lies down and goes to sleep and Paul does it for comfort and when he wants canned food. When cats knead their person, it is usually associated with affection.

Kneading is also called "making biscuits" which is wonderfully descriptive![emoji]128512[/emoji]

Sorry it took so long to get back, what I am trying to say , is that my cat never kneaded at all for two years, now he seems to be doing it quiet a lot. I was just wondering if he is feeling not as well and is looking for comfort, as I said he had a blockage 8 months ago so far he is doing well , I just was concerned about the new habit., Thanks Pam

It's a good sign!  It means he's content and happy with his home.  He feels secure.  I have a 5 yr old male cat who never kneaded until the past couple of years.
