Hello and happy holidays!

My 9-10 lb., 8 month old kitten Mowgli got into a Stocking with candy in it this morning. He ate about half of one kiss. He threw up a good amount around 11:30 am, and a little more, but mostly saliva, at about 12:45. It is now 4pm and he hasn't vomited since.

He is currently hiding out under the sofa, and seems super mopey/lethargic. He wasn't more hyper than usual after eating it.

I called two different poison controls and my vet, one my vet gave me the number for, and the pet poison hotline. Both of which said I shouldn't worry because he ate so little. The pet poison lady seemed a bit more knowledgeable, and said the milk chocolate probably is just upsetting his tummy, and that the amount he ate isn't enough to be toxic, but to take him to the ER if he continues to throw to vomit, (worrying over dehydration).

Has anyone experienced anything similar? How long is normal for a cat to feel icky after eating something he shouldn't?

I worry a lot over my babies, and im afraid to leave him. Im supposed to go into work tonight, but I'm far too worried :/.

*edit* this is also the first time he's thrown up. Not sure if that's why he's hiding as well.

My kitty ate some chocolate once, similar to about how much your kitty ate.  Just keep an eye on him.  Try to entice him to eat with some treats or some of his dry kibble.  His body may just be recuperating from throwing up.  If he's not better in 24 hours, then start worrying.

I'm glad I'm not alone. Was your kitty acting similarly? One of my other cats has ibs, so you think I'd learn not to totally freak out when they're bellies are upset.

It was a small amount but I still get so worried. He's such an energetic and cuddly kitty, I hate seeing him not feel well. :(

Even with the poison helpline telling me not to worry, I still worry :/. I have to go in to work tonight, and of course it's a day my boyfriend has to work late.

He wouldn't eat a few minutes ago, but I'll try again before I head to work. He did come out from under the sofa and layed by my back door for a little bit. Ugh! I just want him to feel better :(

My little guy doesn't ever throw up, but when this happened, it really knocked him down for a day or so.  Tossing your cookies is no fun.  It's good that he's come out of hiding.  Now you just have to work on getting him to eat.  Remember, he'll pick up on your stress, so try to destress.

Well, he's basically back to normal now! For as lethargic as he was all day, he's much better now!

Thank you for reading/responding! Hopefully this post will pop up and help someone else if they have a similar situation :)

Sometimes we just need someone to listen and be there while we wait it out.

Ironically I think that I probably freak out MORE when their tummies get upset after some of the stuff I've gone through with my babies this year. Can mean so many different things, but obviously in your case you already knew he'd probably get an upset tummy :)

So glad your little guy is feeling better!
