my husband brought home a little kitten looks very small somewhere between 4 and 5 weeks old. Kitten was found abandoned under a abandoned home that he does maintenance on. the kitten was very skinny and at it's rear end it had hair and hard stool stuck on it's rear end. I was able to work it loose with some warm water and soap After I freed the area up the kitten started to poop, and it continued to poop all the night and into the next day. I was able to get the kitten to eat a little bit of food but not much. The kittens stool is very loose, foul smelling and has a good bit of mucus in it. It seemed to slow down and i gave it some canned food this afternoon to help it with hydration and thinking it may be able to eat it a little better. The kitten loved the food and ate well. about 10 minutes later the diarrhea started back up again and it looks like the kitten vomited up some of the food. I did give the kitten a small dose of kitten wormer for her weight. Cannot afford to take him to the vet. Any ideas what i could give the kitten to help him? And any ideas what it could be?? so far looking on internet I am thinking possibly giardia????   Thanks in advance for any help

Could be coccidia or however you spell it or any number of illnesses since it is so young and more than likely not vaccinated. If you have other cats I'd caution you to keep them separate and be sure to wash your hands and clothes before going in with your other cats.
I wish you and the little kitten luck but I think it'd be a good idea to take it to a vet since we can't diagnose online and it sounds like it needs veterinary care.

Your local animal shelter may bet able to help you. Or direct you to a low cost clinic. At 4-5 weeks and abandoned he probably hasn't had much solid food. Tiny meals every few hours. If you have a drug store open close call and see if they have KMR. Thank you for trying to save this baby. I hope things get better.

The mucousy poop sounds more like coccidia, which you will not be able to treat yourself, so at some point, and the sooner the better you will need to find a low cost clinic for her to be seen.

She def sounds dehydrated, especially adding in her diarrhea, which WILL easily dry out a young kitten.

What I would do to start with is to feed her fancy feast kitten canned food, adding in clear pediolyte.

Small meals at first so she doesn't overeat then vomit.

As long as she stays fed and well hydrated (pediolyte) the coccidia will not kill her.

However over a short period of time she will be malnourished because diarrhea causes lack of nutrient absorption, leading to a weak/unhealthy kitten. No way to start out living a healthy long life.

If you are rescuing her to help her but will not be keeping her there are lots of cat rescue groups you can contact for help.

You can either self foster her until she is ready for adoptions, or they may have a foster space open for her.

Either way they will get her the meds she needs, vaccines and spayed.
