So we've never tried this food before but it looks really good! Just bought some and will be feeding it tonight. I will let you guys know if Ghibli likes it. Its grain free, gluten free, carrageenan and guar gum free, BPA free, and the chicken are free range. When I shake the can it SOUNDS like its shredded or chunks rather than pate. Does anyone use this brand? Yes there are is some potato. What do you guys think?

Here are the Ingredients:

Chicken, chicken liver, water sufficient for processing, potato, calcium carbonate, sodium chloride minerals: (iron proteinate, zinc proteinate, copper proteinate, manganese proteinate, iodine), vitamins: (niacin, vitamin E supplement, thiamine mononitrate, d-pantothenic acid, riboflavin, pyridoxine hydrochloride, vitamin A supplement, folic acid, biotin, vitamin B12 supplement, vitamin D3 supplement), potassium chloride, taurine, kale

Wow, other than the potato that looks pretty good! I can't use it for my cats bc they are allergic to chicken but it looks like a very nice alternative to other canned chicken foods. Looking at the ingredients, it's entirely gum free - no thickeners, not even agar agar!

I'll have to add that to the list of carrageenan and gum free foods, that are complete and balanced, there are only a handful, thanks for posting this!

Do they make a turkey formula? I'll check their web site. Maybe if the potatoes are big enough you can pick them out - or are the potatoes blended in and mashed up like a sauce?

I think when I first got my kitten, I remember buying a few cans of FirstMate. I don't remember what it looked like, unfortunately, because Milly took a pass on it (lol).

But last summer, someone asked about the dry kibble, I posted this post, which also includes a note about the canned food & its possible high carb content. It would probably be a good idea to contact the company, and ask your questions directly.

I don't use the dry FirstMate as training treats anymore (for that, I've turned to some NVI FD rabbit, and also, NB Green Pea & Salmon).

Looks like it's too carby and unfortunately the potatoes are blended into the pate. Thanks for the FD link. :)

It is a reallllllly soft pate with lots of gravy surrounding it! Ghibli approved of it and ate it all :)

What a coincidence, I tried this for my two kittens Buster and KC and it was a big hit as well. I am in Washington State, and bought it from Mud Bay; their policy is that if you are purchasing a can of any new food, they don't charge for it, which I think is pretty unique.  Also, any food kitty doesn't like can be returned for full refund.

I haven't made the leap to get a case of it yet, but will be getting a few more cans this week.

Merry Christmas to all!
