Just give your girl a lot of love right now. And know it's ok to grieve in front of her. I think it will help you both when you do. I don't know if my Sara misses Lucky per se, but she feels the lack of his presence. Maple is a bit anti-social and Lucky was always around in the living area with her. She always comforts me when I cry and I always give him more attention when she does her little cry.
My Orange cat wondered very much when I began to cry for bisbish. His last moment with BishBish was when he sniffed her feet... :=)   When I  saw how tired BishBish was I knew it was time to put my baby to sleep even  thought I really didn't want. I wanted wait couple of days to spend last days with him but It would have been very selfish thing to do. I dont know how much my cat suffered but I had feeling in my guts its  was very painful because he is no even enjoying his normal life anymore.

I understand that completely. I got the bad news about Lucky's blood levels on a Wednesday morning. I cried and cried and decided to have him put to sleep the next day. I needed that one last day. But it's like he knew that he had gotten so much worse because his symptoms suddenly got worse. He just crashed. That day he could barely walk, and started peeing outside the litter box (accidentally) and I wondered if I waited too long. The vet's office was closed early that day, and the weather was horrible out and I knew he would be scared if I took him to the ER vet (my regular one is right next door to us). In retrospect, I think I waited one day too long. By the next morning, he was very ready. In my mind's eye, I remember seeing him there with a little suitcase for some reason, as though waiting for a train at the train station. I was originally going to do it in the afternoon but then decided it wasn't right for him, and so at 9:30am we took him in.

Lucky was most likely not in pain, but the toxins coursing through his body were making him feel horrible. The vet said it was akin to having a really bad flu that would never go away in terms of how it felt, and would continue to get worse.

Lucky was very Lucky that he didint stress his last day in car! He had pretty peaceful day and death... My vet  was far away..So there was not much of choices and everyone was starting holidays.......My BishBish could have last couple of days but he was not enjoying anything. In last two days he even started to limp is second leg.. His walking balance was horrible. He fell to the ground many times.. if I had not helped him in litter box he could have been fell in poop and pee many times.  He loves to drink water from bathroom.. One day, I found her asleep out there because he  cannot get up there with his tumor leg, and she was really wet..  I heard that Osteasarcoma is very painful cancer for humans... If even painkiller didint work for BishBish anymore it must be very painful. My cat was true soldier! It's incredible how he had still motivation to trying walk and use Litter box and groom his painful parts despite of his difficulties.

I'm very sorry for your loss. It was a very tough decision to have to make, but you gave BishBish the last gift of love - an end to suffering. RIP, sweetie. :rbheart:

I've seen a deceased cat's body 48 hrs after it was placed in the deep freezer; but, never any longer than that.

I am not sure what you mean by Zombie; but, the body doesn't break down in the freezer like it does when it is buried in the ground.

My guess is that your cat will be given back to you either wrapped in a plastic bag (these are typically black, orange or blue) or in a cardboard casket. Most people choose not to look at the body.

There are changes that take place to the body due to being bound in the bag and placed in the freezer. How much depends on the exact way the body is stored and how full the freezer is.

All you will see is BishBish.  As odd as it sounds one of the most intimate moments after Kitten's death was the short time I got to spend with her body. It was cold and lifeless but all I see was my little girl.  If you can't look it's ok. I do recommend for your own peace of mind that someone who knew your cat verify that it is indeed yours. After their death the final act of love is making sure their remains are treated with respect. It will be difficult. Many people choose to wrap the body in a favorite blanket and include a loved toy. You may want to write a note to BishBish and include it in the grave. This is the furry body you loved. Nothing to be afraid of. Hugs to you. Take the two weeks to plan in your mind how you want to handle his funeral.  And when the time comes we will hold you up.

I'm so sorry about BishBish. Lost my tortie to mammary cancer when she was just 7, and the last 12 hours still haunts me. But wherever BishBish is , he knows you did your best. [emoji]128532[/emoji]

I held my Kitten like I did when she was alive. It was the last time I would ever be able to touch her and I cherish those few minutes. I was scared too. But as soon as I seen her all I felt was that rush of love for her.

I am so sorry for your loss of BishBish.  I know how you loved that cat.  It is very evident in how you write about him.  He was suffering and you did do right in letting him be free of that.  I had a kitty we were not able to bury once she died on Easter weekend and we coudnt bury her until Memorial day due to the ground being frozen here in WI where I live.  She looked normal when we got her out to bury her.  It was just like putting her down all over again.  thank goodness we had an extra freezer we werent using and were able to keep her there until we could have her funeral.  She didnt look scary or anything.  Just was like her self.  I kept a snip of her fur and i have done that for each kitty I lost after that.  I have 3 little snips of fur now...  :-(  I hope you get your kittys remains home soon and can say goodbye to him.  It will be hard again.   Just like the day you lost him.  It will give you more peace and closure after you have his funeral.  Good luck.  I know how hard it is.  We will be here for you.

Dont be afraid to touch him and say good bye.  I dont think he will look bad.  Eyes obviously will be sunken and wont look like when he was alive but he will still be your kitty you loved so much.  It will be the last time you see him and it will be just as hard as the time you  had him euthanized.  It will feel better once you have him to his final resting place and you can always go there and remember him.  It isnt going to be easy but it will be good to have him there to say a final goodbye.  He sure was a beautiful kitty.

I have so many kitties waiting to see me in heaven.  sheesh--now there's a visual!!  The number is very high because I grew up on a farm and remember a few spring seasons where we had around 40 cats!!  (Indoors I have never had more than 5).  Didnt want anyone to think I was an animal hoarder.  he he!  But all those barn kitties=man we had a lot of cats!!  Makes me laugh when I think of the line of them waiting when I get there!!   We had some really cool barn kitties way back when.  That was so many years ago=but some I remember very well to this day.

I'm so sorry you've had to wait so long for BishBish's funeral. He is so loved, and that is such a good thing. I can't imagine waiting so long. I had my boy cremated. He died on a Thursday, and I had him back home on the following Monday.

I feel so bad for you that you have to wait even longer to get your BishBish back.  Yes =He has finished his earth journey and will be waiting for you and you will see him again someday.  He will always be in your heart forever.  So when you miss him you only need to look there in your heart and all the good that he was will be there.

My heart is truly breaking as I read this. It is never easy to watch the final moments . Please take comfort in knowing that your precious angel has crossed the Bridge, and will no longer suffer, will no longer have to know the cold stark reality of pain and infirmity. He is truly free now. And please take comfort in the fact that BishBish knew how much you loved him and cared for him. He was such a beautiful cat. I am so sorry for your loss. I am trying to be careful with my words, as I do not wish to cause you added pain. It hurts to lose a cat. Know this, and accept it. I lost my best friend ever, Midnight, on January 5, 1992. You will never forget your angel, and I pray that this stays a truth for you. But the pain will slowly ease over time. Right now, just grieve. You do BishBish no disservice by doing so. This yet one more proof of the precious love and devotion that you had for him. You have my deepest sympathies and respect. BishBish eternal.
