Hello everyone,

I live with four cats in a big house and our cats have access to outside. One of our cats, Justin, all of a sudden got ill and took refuge in the bed. He is at the top floor and never leaving the bed. It has been over 5 days and he doesn't eat, drink or go outside to toilet. He peed three times on the beds.

I took him to the vet twice in this time. First they said that it is a viral infection and gave a liquid flu medicine. I took him again two days later as he didn't look any better and this time they gave an antibiotic pill for him twice a day and told that I should use it together with the liquid flu medicine.

He ate very little food today but looking very week. I am not sure if it is a good idea to give both the flu medicine and the antibiotic and that why I wanted to ask you before it is too late. I would appreciate if you share your experiences.

Thank you

I seriously feel that you need to take him to the e-Vet...this is too long for him to go without eating..

It sounds as if he may be dehydrated. That is why going to the emergency Vet is so important. They can re-hydrate him. That usually make a kitty feel much better. They can also re-evaluate his condition.

Cats not eating is a very dangerous situation. He needs nourishment. Even if it is syringe feeding. Not getting up to use the litter box shows that he is very sick...

If you feel he is weak, then you need to act on this.

I am not sure if I would return back to your Vet because it does not seem to be helping much. Just my opinion...

You really do need to act now...especially with the upcoming holiday. The poor baby could turn really bad, very fast...

keep us posted...

please.... go to e-Vet..

Sounds like they are trying to treat the illness but not treating the cat. Nothing will work if they aren't stable. 5 days is a VERY long time to not be eating, and I agree he needs to go to the ER vet

He cannot continue as he is.  You need to get him to the vet again and you need to try to force feed him with a syringe.
