Hi all! I've been browsing these forums for a few months now and getting all sorts of awesome information, but it wasn't until today that I felt like I needed some advice/support for Griffin. I kind of jumped straight into asking for advice in the medical/health section (and I've been getting such helpful advice
This is my little angel. I adopted him on October 3 from a local shelter. I like to think that he chose me more than I chose him. When I got to the shelter and was coming up from the parking lot, Griffin was sitting in an enclosed outdoor area near the entrance, and he greeted me with a nice loud meow! (My boy is very chatty, I've since found) When I went in to look at the cats, I didn't actually go in Griffin's room first, but went into a room beside it instead with more cats. When I went to the outdoor area attached to that room, Griffin was right up against the fence looking at me, and reaching his paw through the fence to me. When I did go to Griffin's room, I fell in love with him. He's very outgoing - he rubbed against my legs, purred, let me pet him, and let me pick him up. I played with him for a little bit in the room, and then went to the front counter to go through the adoption. I'm glad I did - while I was talking to the shelter staff about adopting him, two other people came up to the counter to ask about the chatty, playful boy!
I took Griffin home with me. I'd read about introducing a new cat to your home, and was all ready to give him his space while he got settled in. Griffin had other plans. He came straight out of his carrier, immediately explored the apartment, and then promptly stretched out in the living room for a nap. This is Griffin about half an hour after we came home:
After the cat nap, Griffin took to following me around the apartment. And he is still my little shadow. If I am in the kitchen, Griffin is in the kitchen. If I am in bed, Griffin is on the pillow beside me. If I'm in the shower, Griffin is on the toilet seat waiting for me. And if I'm in the living room, Griffin is on his tree close by.
He's also a very social and confident guy. My apartment tends to be fairly quiet, but Griffin has had the opportunity to meet several friends and family members. He has not shown a shred of nervousness with any of them. He greets anyone who walks in the door with a meow, sniffs them, rubs against them, and generally just seems to like everyone he meets.
I've really loved the past few months I've been able to spend with Griffin. I am hoping for many, many happy years with my little fur baby!
