I just noticed a sore on my cat's chin. She is 14 and otherwise in good health. I just moved so there is a lot of stress with a new home and she is a nervous cat. I'm thinking it's acne or herpes but I don't know what the big pimple thing is. It doesn't seem to hurt. She's never had this before. What does it look like to you, and do you think it warrants a vet visit immediately?

I wouldn't describe it as an emergency, but skin issues are often hard to diagnose, and are prone to infection, so i expect a vet will prescribe a topical antibiotic, and may take a culture depending on the cat's history to rule out ringworm, a fungal infection.

But ringworm is usually only an issue on newly arrived cats, or cats who have contact with other cats.

I would make a routine appointment with your vet as soon as you can reasonably get in and depending on how and if the holiday season impacts your vet's working hours.
