Okay, guys.

So, I have a 1 1/5 year old ragdoll neutured boy. I got him when he was 8 weeks old. He's pretty clingy and sweet with me, but doesn't really like to cuddle or sit on my lap, but it doesnt matter as long as he's happy I don't force him to do anything. Anyways, sometimes he suddenly just attacks my hands and bite deeeep into them and it hurts so freaking bad! Sometimes I'll be petting him and he does it again. I just don't understand exactly what he wants from me!!! I tried everything on the internet to get him to stop, from playing with him until he gets tired, to not over stimulate him while petting. Nothing works.

What am I going to do with him? It really bothers me!

Hmm. I've had this with a cat and started noticing he didn't like being touched near the back of his body. Like near his hips, etc. Try to look at his tail and see when he starts 'flicking' it (irritation) when you touch certain parts of his body.

Yes, I'v done that and I always know where to not touch him. However, sometimes he'll just suddenly attack my hands, grabs onto them and bite so hard for absolutely no reason. He's a sweet big ball of fluff and he loves me, I know it. But this behavior is just so weird!

Probably play-aggression. Did you play with your hands with him a lot as a kitten?

Maybe :(. We did play most of the time with toys though, but I guess he prefers hands. Do you recommend any method to stop him from doing that? I know he's older now and it became a habit but I surely do not encourage this behavior, I always make sure to show him that I don't like that by saying NO and then leaving him.. But I don't know it doesn't seem to work.

Get a wand toy of sorts. Usually if you take like a plushie and 'play with the plushie' with the kitten they seem to... see it as an extension of your arm, rather than to see the plushie and your hand seperately. If he does 'attack' your arm, give him a plushie. One he can really bite into and do all the hind-leg kicky action. Try to not pull your arm away too fast. That'll "move like prey" in his eyes and is even more of an invitation to play. As soon as he accepts the toy, let go of it.

To avoid it alltogether, wear him out with a wand toy. Most cats like the ones with feathers. If you play with him for, lets say 20 mins every day, he will most likely feel less of a need to provoke you by biting your arm and such.

Hope that gave you some ideas :D

And oh- also! Someone suggested to me to hiss at my kitten (she still tests me with this too. she's still tiny though, 15 weeks) That's how the mama cat, or any cat, would respond to let him know he's crossed a line.

I feel like a weirdo hissing at my cat, LOL. But I have to say, her responses have been different and the past few days she's been getting better about it. I throw her favourite plushie across the room about a minute after 'hissing', to redirect her attention to something positive. When I catch her randomly kicking the plushie, I give her a small treat for positive association.

Oh trust me, I'v done that. He has one furbie plush toy that he always carries around in his mouth and bite into, I also always play with him with paper balls (his favourite) and a wand toy with feathers and a bell (which he managed to tear apart) but I got him a new one. However, still no use. He would do it bite my hands so randomly! like I would be laying there with my phone and I could his pupils dilating and bam! bites my hand. Yeah, I usually don't pull away quickly and just leave my hands limp even though I'm hurting SO much. Ah.. I guess he'll just always have this stinking habit in him :(

Hmm, I never tried hissing! I usually say NO and make sure that my tone is firm. I'll give it a go, and yeah it definitely does sound weird LOL!

Try to somehow get into his mind and think of a way to make clear to him that this is not acceptable. Try the hissing, lol honestly, I laughed at Elfie's face when I first did that. She seems to get the message, and freezes. When I just say 'no' she doesn't seem to understand.
