Something healthy to put on top of food so they'll eat it?

You certainly are. I can't tell you how many cans of food ended up going down the disposal because the diva sisters refused to eat them.
"...diva sisters..."  Literally lmao!

I see- that makes sense.  I didn't even know they made toppers- what a great idea.  We have nine cats, and are pretty blessed that none of them are picky...
Wow, lucky you - nine cats and nary a fussy eater, way to go! :)

What are generally used here as toppers aren't marketed as "toppers" for pet food but rather treats, it's just that we typically refer to these treats as something to put on top of the food so the fur kids will eat the food.

Yep, ditto here - down the old toilet in this case (no garbage disposal), sigh .....

I used to use Purina Feline Fortiflora ( Amazon) that worked great but, Ingrid King (www.theconsciouscat.com)  recommends Nutritional Yeast. I get in the bins at Whole Foods ,The cats love it and it is healthier than Fortiflora. If you have an older cat it is great because of the protein levels. I use it on my popcorn as it tastes good. I have read that it should not be used for cats with CKD.

Oh my goodness - it's good to know we're not the only ones.  I have the most feline nutritionally balanced garbage disposal in town.

What's Nutritional Yeast?  Is it really just yeast - like for baking yeast?  Definitely will try the Fortiflora.

Ciao - Linda

Fortiflora works great. In fact, I am picking up our second box of packets from the vet today. My cat loves it.

My girl loved parmesean cheese, although she was so clever near the end she started outsmarting me and only eating the top layer of food with the cheese on it and leaving the rest. I didn't want her to have too much salt from the cheese, so I tried other things as well.

Echoing others, I used PureBites on occasion though it didn't always work.

One thing that worked really well was boiling a chicken, mashing it up in the blender with some of the stock (worked really well) and putting some of that on top of the food because she was a big chicken lover! So if there is something like that they enjoy (tuna, salmon, chicken, etc.) you could try that, too. Another thing you could try is just adding a wee bit of chicken broth (homemade though, you don't want any added salt, garlic or onions of course) or tuna water or something they like to the food so they smell it and are attracted to it.

I also tried some Weruva packets because they are supposed to be very palatable, but they were hit and miss and I am unsure of their allergy compatibility for your kitties...good luck! :)

I use a ton of different ones

...
Nature's Variety Instinct Raw Boost Mixers
...

Have had success with:

...
NVI raw boost mixers (this gave our kittens tummy problems, so had to stop, seems too high in fiber? 15%)

...
This is a good thing to be reminded of! I forgot about the extra fiber in these --- been using them as a topper the past few weeks, and now I can place some of Milly's recent issues (too much fiber!)

Try Bonito Fish Flakes. I found them on ebay and they are pure, dehydrated fish flakes, no refrigeration needed.  Did you try a little milk sprinkled on the wet food? Also, cat nip.

Me again...........tuna juice and tuna pieces. My pickiest little girl will not eat anything but dry food until I gave her tuna juice (make sure you buy the tuna in spring water, not the oil)

I know it's an aid against herpes but I sprinkle lysine powder on everybody's dish :) only because a few mos ago, I began adding 2 blueberries to their breakfast dish and found that lysine is the trick otherwise they just eat around it :) Ehhh don't really trust purina :p how about Ark Naturals or NUPRO, Nature's Variety raw boost mixers, Krill oil is also a good trick!! My old man had to leave about 2 weeks ago and during his last months, it just became harder and harder to get him to eat :(
