Hey all. My tiny baby kitten Toulouse has diarrhea. She was a barn kitten with diarrhea since I got her. She had worms pretty bad. They did 3 de worm treatments as well as an antibiotic and the stools didn't firm up. It's been almost a month and I'm very concerned. I thought it might have been because we're changing his diet so much that his tummy was irritated. But I don't know. He's been on the same food now with no changes for a week. I'm thinking of changing to wet food only next to see how that goes. But we've also tried pumpkin and probiotics. Nothing seems to work. He has a vet appointment tomorrow but my vet seems to be lost for what it might be as well. Any ideas?

Has the vet tested for giardia and other things? Have they run a fecal panel?

It could have been the wrong dewormer or the wrong antibiotic.

It could also be a good allergy. He could be allergic to grains or a certain protein.

They did do a fecal panel and that's how they found the worms. They didn't find anything else. The vet told me they checked for all other parisites as well as giardia. I am going to try switching up his food next. That seemed to be the vets next idea too. I'm introducing probiotics first for a few days before changing things on him again. I am trying to make changes slowly so that it doesn't upset his tummy more.

what are you currently feeding Toulouse? BTW the antibiotics can really mess up their little systems, I think the probiotic is a great idea. Hope he gets better soon

Hi there, Iam currently dealing with a similar issue and while nothing has cured my 4 month old, Rx Clay does seem to help. http://www.diamondbackdrugs.com/store/product/rx-clay/
I got it from my vet and read up on it and it has good results along with probiotics. We mix in wet food or make a water/clay mixture (lots of water) that we give her by mouth syringe. Maybe ask your vet about it.
When your kitty gets better, let me know, looking for any healing stories. :)

This is the food I'm feeding currently. I am going to switch to half wet half dry here soon. I want to let him adjust to the food with the probiotics for a few days before changing anything in his diet yet.

A aubreyls , how old is your kitten? You say tiny baby and I ask because the food you are feeding is an indoor adult formula. This would not be ideal for a kitten, especially a baby. I do believe this brand comes in a kitten-specific formula which would be OK to feed.

Otherwise look for a kitten or all life stages foods.

He is 4 months old. My vet recommend against a kitten formula for now because she said it can be too rich when they are having tummy troubles.

The word barley in the name of the cat food is a little worrying, many cats have sensitivities to grains, I would definitely ensure she was on a grain free diet.

Today I am moving him to a grain free wet cat food. I will let you know how it goes.

Have you tried grain free food? My kitten has had almost the same exact issues as yours. Except the vet never could find any worms or anything. My kitten, Jasper is currently in Iams grain free chicken and has done very well with that. How is your kittens weight?
