This is Octavia. She is my boyfriends pride and joy. The only issue with Octavia is that she gets pretty bad feline acne and vomiting.
YES she is using ceramic dishes.
YES she is on a grain free formula as well as holistic wet food.
YES we have been cleaning her chin.
She tends to vomit a few times per week. Its always undigested kibble.
YES i have treated her for both hairballs and worms. I read on a previous post that someone else's kitty was also vomiting, and also read that a 100% switch to wet food was the answer for their situation. Are the two conditions generally associated? The vet made a point to say Octavia has very thick skin. At this point we feel pretty bad for this girl. She isnt losing weight, and she is drinking. Thoughts? Experiences? TIA :)

Thanks for providing so much info. :) That's very helpful.

I know you're cleaning her chin, but are you cleaning the ceramic dishes daily too? Dry food can leave a bit of an oily residue on them. Also, maybe try switching to a shallow dish or saucer instead of a bowl (if that's the style you're using) so her chin doesn't hit the side of the dish when eating?

The most common reason a cat vomits undigested food is eating too fast. Try putting a golf ball in the middle of her food so she has to eat around it. It will slow her down.

I've never heard of a link between feline acne and vomiting. Some cats (like humans) are just more acne prone.

Does she scarf her food? how often do you feed her? I heard that plastic bowls sometimes contribute to chin acne, best to get them a stainless steel bowl.  BTW she is very cute

I have a feeling she is filling up too fast as i have intervened and made her take a couple bites then leave and come back..and she did alright. The dishes she uses are:

They are quite shallow. We dont feed her whiskas though lol
They are cleaned daily. Her dry kibble is probably the richest kibble in protein we could give her, so i advised my bf to put her on an indoor formula. I feel she is getting more protein than her belly can handle.
Another reader suggested looking at labels for xanthan gum, so i'll definitely be looking at her labels. Shes been eating snappy Tom and Almo (supplemental only). Thanks for the input!
