Tell me about Trader Joe's canned food!

The cans looked normal to me. I don't have a scale, though, so I haven't weighed them. It'd be helpful if you could post a picture later.

I notice this with the Merrick LID foods, they def don't have 5.5oz of food inside.

i would notify the company!

I actually did, ellag, and they were incredibly good about it.  In ten minutes I had a three coupons for a case of free food!  They seem to think it's a mechanical issue with the gizmo that fills the cans.  I told them I'd take better photos because they want to know what the food looks like in the can.  For whatever reason, they claim that the photo will help them find the problem with the automation.

So here's a few photos of what I'm talking about.  Naturally, this last can I opened was closer to being full than the others, but even so, it measured at only 4.9 ounces when it's supposed to be 5.5 ounces.

For whatever reason, it's REALLY hard to get a photo of the reading on my digital scale!

Compare that to another brand that states it's also
5.5 ounces.  Apologies for my gross garage!

I actually just did this with a can of the Merrick LID chicken (which looks very similar to the 4Health food) and it was only 4.7oz   the Merrick cans are only 5oz, but still. I have 4Health food too I'll measure tomorrow, I imagine mine are under 5.5oz too.

No the cans are smaller 4.75

My cans say 5oz.

I contacted Merrick last night about the issue, because again, the cans say 5oz not 4.75. They said they were unaware of any issues with the cans being underfilled but they wanted to send me some "replacement vouchers." Just an FYI for anyone else. 

I also just weighed my 4Health foods, both the Turkey and the Chicken, and they both came in at 5.25, so slightly under the 5.5 but not as low as the poster. 

Surely 4Health doesn't count the juice in their net weight, do you think?  Their food has some serious juice in it.

That's a good question. I did weight it with the juices this morning. I have a really high end accurate food scale (my boyfriend uses it for coffee things) so I know it's accurate. 

I think I'm going to call them back and ask.  I'll let you know.  And incidentally, thank you for weighing your food!
