How much would you really suspect bowls like this:

This is a square porcelain or whatever bowl from Target that comes out of the human aisle.  A couple years old (a few may be older) and you can see the lines in there and I don't know what those indicate apart from use.  Are they really "cracks" which could hold nasty bacteria or such? They are washed in the dishwasher after each use.  Used with canned food.

This is a stainless DuraPet low rim bowl.  If you look at larger version you may see the scratching on there from use.  They're a couple years old and again always washed in dishwasher after each use.  Used with freeze-dried raw food.

So just one of my cats has some stuff going on with the chin. Hard to know what because she's all black.   Maybe one or the other or both of these bowls are worn enough to have problems?  There is no plastic anywhere in their food/water setup or that they routinely would touch apart from maybe incidental contact (I would count litter box among that even though that's obviously plastic).  Their food is canned and freeze-dried raw rehydrated with water.  Bowls are washed in dishwasher after every use.  We have often been leaving them out between feedings which is 12 hours, and I have observed both cats at different times occasionally going to the bowl at the 11th hour or so to lick the crumbs, but most commonly it was the cat who does not have any chin issue at the moment.

The white one is deeper, so I was going to replace those with some Corelle mini bowls which are pretty shallow and a more glass material and on sale this week at Target for $2.47 each.  Like to differentiate morning and evening meal.  But maybe I'm meowing up the wrong tree here.  I don't yet have her diagnosis, just trying to rule out things while I can.  Sadly I have an away trip from Thurs-Mon and no time. Just discovered this problem.

Don't have anything else to suspect if it's the acne.  Food is the same for many months unless something changed in the ingredients.  I suppose the lot number of the Primal freeze-dried pork was the same for some time when I had a big supply, then I just opened a newer bag maybe a week or so ago. The Tiki is still the same lot since a few months ago.

Thanks for any thoughts.

Sometimes there is nothing to blame for acne in cats.  Their chins get dirty, touch the food, bacteria develops and regardless or bowl or food, the cat gets acne.  So you treat it under a vets care before it becomes infected.
