My cat had a litter of two kittens 3 weeks ago (her 3rd litter) they all seemed to settle fine. We did a check up at the vets after the kittens opened their eyes and nothing was abnormal, but today after I got home from school I noticed my older sister had left the kittens in the living room and Anna ( the mother cat) was in the bedroom. I'm guessing the kittens had went without eating for at least 3-4 hours but we're still sleep. I told my sister off and quickly took them back into their nest, but the biggest kitten keeps vomiting up a thick ,white liquid it's almost like baby formula but it stinks horribly and it's clumpy. He has already puked four times in the past five hours and the second time he made this high pitched squeal that scared the crap out of me. Is this normal? And is there anything I can do to make the little guy feel better?. Their due to go off to new homes on the 23 of Dec but if he doesn't get better we will have to keep him another month or so. He still has an appetite but can't keep it down.

Yikes! A few issues -
It is not at all normal for your kitten to be vomiting like that. A kitten that small needs to be eating frequently in order to thrive. The whole family needs to go to the vet ASAP.

Also, they will be only 4-5 weeks old if they leave your home on the 23rd of December. That's much too young! Kittens should stay with their mom for at least 8 weeks, but ideally 12.

How old is your mama cat? It's not healthy for a cat to have pregnancy after pregnancy. Are you considering having her spayed after this litter?

I can't help with the kitten vomiting and hope he gets better, but sending the kittens to new homes on Dec 23 would only make the kittens 4 and a half weeks old...that isn't nearly old enough to be separated from their mom yet...please reconsider keeping them longer than that. I realize in the US that Christmas is very near and kittens would be a cute gift but for their health and well being they need to stay with mom longer...

Good luck with sick tummy kitten!

The kitten needs to be seen by a vet.  Young kittens can become dehydrated very quickly.  He will also need some unflavored pedialyte to help replace fluids.

I agree, the kittens will be too young to give away on 12/23.  If you read some of the threads in the behavior forum, you will see many kittens who have behavior issues that would have been corrected by mom if they had been with her longer.

Just to agree with the others. Is an Asap vet visit.   I understand you DO have cooperation with a vet - because you went to the vet with perfectly helathy kittens for a check up, just to be sure.

So its not you want to save money on their cost, you try your best to give them adequate care.     Even if many would put the money on a spaying instead.

Exactly WHAT it with this kitten, I dont dare to guess, but its not normal no.   ONE or two pukes may perhaps happen, but not that many.

Also, there is the danger of deyhdration as mentioned, giving extra problems.

A gift of cute kittens at Christmas is no good idea.  It will be just scary for them, as the least problem.  But you can take some good photos, and tell about them, and the adoption parents ca give the photos etc as a Christmas Card gift.  Telling the kittens must be with their mom at least till 8 weeks.   Its easy to understand.  If the Jesus child would be with momma Mary  till he was at least 12, so the kittens must be so too. It would be unfair othewise.
He still has an appetite but can't keep it down.

Are you positive your sister did NOT feed them anything?  dish of cream/milk or something? They're to young to be weaned yet.  Not good to feed them cows milk,  KMR formula from the Vets is the best.  Watch them close for the next 24 hours.

Let  your mom know it's not a good idea at all for them to leave yet, they need to stay with the mom cat  at least until January 20th. At 8 weeks. They need to grow, learn how to eat food.
Plus many other cat tips only their mom can teach them.

Due to holidays if your mom is worried about rehoming after christmas (if potential home falls through not willing to wait) a Cat rescue can help you with the litter, you foster them this way you get to enjoy them longer, they provide kitten food & litter for you.while you hang onto them for 12 weeks or until they're adopted.  Rescue rehomes them, plus fix your mom cat for FREE at the end

Was there a litterbox in the livingroom? With clumping litter? It could be that the kitten ate the litter and is sick of it (it comes out the way you described).

You will need to go to the vet. It could mean a lot and if you dont go today, tomorrow might be too late. Kittens this young get dehydrated really quickly. And if he ate litter like I said you risk constipation which can be deadly as well.

Keep is posted :)

He seems like he's doing ok, hasn't puked up anything but I can ask my mom to take them to the vet. The person who wants the kittens want them before Christmas as gifts so it will be hard making them wait another month but I want what's best for them so I can work something out.
And the mother is almost three, we were going to have her spayed after her second litter ,but the little minx got pregnant again.

I'm not sure, I asked her and she said no. They were also on the couch in a cat bed so there's no way they could have digested anything.I don't think there are any cat rescues around me but I can look around, my mom can talk to the person who wants them to see if they will wait. The kitten is doing better not vomiting just sleeping, though I'll have my mom to take them to the vet.

They were in a cat bed on the couch and we keep cat litter upstairs so I don't think they got into it unless the mother cat back tracked it into the nest. The kitten seems better he's hasn't been vomiting only sleeping but they will be off to the vet later today or tomorrow.

You can do as I suggested,  send a nice gift card + photos, and perhaps some stories of how they are - or their mom is - so the children there WILL get the feeling they are getting a true gift. Just wait some more.

They can perhaps visit the kittens in your home?  If that is OK for you and your family.  Observe, the cat momma may be protective. But if the visitors are respectful, she usually lets them cuddle with the kittens.

Glad they're going to the vet. Let us know how it goes!

So much better for the cats to wait until they're old enough. It can cause all sorts of health and behavioral issues.

And please do get her spayed. It's hard on mom to have litter after litter.

update
He's doing really well. He vomited an extra 6 times over the afternoon and is now up running around playing. Vet said not to worry nothing major was wrong. He just ate more then his stomach could handle, though he lost some weight
this is him after I let him out of the kennel his mother was showing his sister around, also the kittens adopter agreed to wait saying they rather have healthy kittens then no kittens :D.thank you all for the quick replies and advice.
