My 14 year old cat Chessy has had diabetes but hasn't needed insulin since March (I test his blood sugar) and was diagnosed with kidney disease in August. The past week I've noticed 3 little bumps that look like scabs on the front of his head, top of his head, and back of his neck. They don't bother him at all. They're not ticks and he hasn't been fighting with my other cat, Mia. I've spent $3k on Mia in the past week so I'm not in a rush to take Chessy to a vet right away. Any ideas?

BTW these are my husbands hands not mine :)

You say they "look" like scabs.  Are they?  Do they bother him, does he scratch at them?  If they truly are scabs, I think it's possible he could have gotten them pretty much anywhere in the house if he's like my cats.  They climb in and out of things and rub against all kinds of things which sometimes could result in a scratch here or there.

OR, perhaps they are skin tags since he's getting older.  If they don't go away, then next time your at the Vet for either his diabetes or kidney issues, just have them check them.  It's doubtful they are anything serious.

I guess they could be! Maybe I will pick one off since they don't bother him. I just thought it was very weird that he got 3 in a week and I haven't seen any before. Maybe his nails are too long and he's been scratching too hard. Thanks!
