My husband and I recently took in a 7.5 week old kitten that was attacked by a dog and will have disabilities.

He is blind in one eye, missing 6 front top teeth(That I was told will grow back when his adult teeth come in) and maybe deaf in one ear and some of his bottom lip is gone.

The vet said he wouldn't survive 24 hours and it's been 3 days, He is on Soft pate food I am syringing him KMR and Water he seems to be doing well, He's a kitten playing and cuddly.

Can I be doing more?

poor little guy, bless your hearts for loving him and taking care of him. I have a feeling that he will the most amazing little companion you could ask for. It is really important to keep him warm. Let us know  you make out.

It actually sounds like he will survive this. After 3 days and he plays, etc, he is going to make it through. Lucky little one, that's for sure!!

Yes, teeth will come in as adult teeth, that starts around and after 6 months or so.

Blind in one eye is lightweight and he will do just fine with this too.

Was his lip stitched up?

Sounds like what you are currently doing is appropriate, his lip and mouth need to heal but should be able to eat again in a week or so.

Just keep up the KMR and the pate food, fancy feast kitten is fine.

He will be able to eat dry food too when his mouth/lip heal, I would highly recommend Royal Canin's Babycat. NOT the kitten but the pink bag that says mother and baby kitten, it's excellent food and teeny bits even a 4 week old can eat, and he will love it too.

Great job!

Was he an outside born, barn cat or ferale?   Being part of a "survival of the fittest programme"  he has the immune and heling meat systeme above the average.  We know that, otherwise he would probably perished while small kitten.   I mean, that could explain why he is going to make it, although vet though it was really hopeless.

Also, helping a ferale while he is severly sick, makes the socializing process much quicker than otherwise.    So he was double lucky.   :)

You had apparently made everything nicely well.  My addition of advices would be, if you have access to goat milk, its always useful supplement (and emergency  kmr too!).  Bought bottled / powdered / cartooned is OK, but if you can get raw goat milk,  fresh or frozen, its really excellent.

Such raw goat milk can probably be used outwards too, to help healing and with minor skin problems.

I managed to get  liquid soap with goat milk.  Its really excellent, even better than the otherwise Lactacyd liquid soap, which I normally use,  is excellent  for soothing small skin problems.

So, my idea is,  raw goat milk should be at least as good, to help his scars healing.

(I myself cant test it, its very difficult to get goat milk in Sweden - Im happy if I can find cartooned goat milk)

Thank you all and we have bought the Royal Canin Babycat

He was born in someones house and we took him and his brother the attack happened the day we went and the owners weren't going to take him to the vet

So as soon as we had him we went straight to my vet.

His lip wasn't stitched.

Good thing for him you came and took him away, sounds like some very irresponsible pet owners...........
