Some of you may remember my post about buying a new car almost 3 years ago.  Well, I did buy a new 2013 Subaru Impreza.  At only 15,000 miles, the transmission died.  I really loved that car, though, and even though it was under 36,000 miles, and so still under warranty (a free transmission), I decided to trade it in.  A transmission should not die that soon, so it makes me wonder what else will go wrong--and that will happen when the warranty runs out, I'm sure. Subarus are known for reliability, which is why I bought one--plus the all-wheel drive (I live on a big hill, and we get snow). I still got a decent trade-in value, so I decided it was time to trade up.

I've been driving a loaner Forester since Tuesday. I really liked it, even though I never drove an SUV before, and thought my 5ft-tall body would have trouble getting in and out of one.  Well, this one is easier to get in and out of, which is great for my bad knee. Sooo... I bought the loaner car!  I tried 5 other ones, various models, but like this one the best. It's a 2015 Forester. Even though it's slightly used (1800 miles), it has a far better warranty: 100,000 miles (as opposed to 36,000 on the Impreza).

I'm not crazy about the color (pale green), but I can't afford to be picky.  Let's hope this one lasts. If it doesn't, I gave a good warranty at least!

Nice! Congratulations! It was probably a smart move on your part....odd that the tranny would die on your Impreza so soon.

Our Hyundai Tucson was new when we bought it at the end of 2012. We are kicking around the idea of trading it in. I'm not happy with it overall. It's a Limited and has everything in it but the kitchen sink, including the panoramic sunroof. But it's been attracting more than its share of accidents and minor fender-benders. It's been in 3 accidents in two years and (I SWEAR!) not one of them has been my fault. It's just really frustrating and I can't say that I even like driving it anymore. I find myself still driving my PT Cruiser this year....the weather has been good for driving the Cruiser thus far, no snow or ice. Part of the problem is that I have no idea what I'd be interested in getting if we did trade the Tucson back in.

Congratulations!  DH and I looked at both the Forester and the Outback.  I felt like I had a better view of things in the Outback.  It's my favorite out of any car I've had.  DH said it should be because it was the most expensive.
We did get a pretty basic model off the showroom floor (literally); so it wasn't crazy expensive.  But more than the smaller vehicles we've always had.  It took me a little getting used to driving something bigger.  I'm not anxious to go any larger either.

Congratulations on your new car purchase. I hope you will be very happy with it. We had always driven cars until two years ago. It was time to trade as our Buick Regal was constantly dinging us a hundred dollars here, two hundred there. You get the drift. Normally we had sold our cars outright, but we traded the Buick for a 2012 Honda CRV. It had low mileage. I am a very short person. What sold me on this car is being able to sit up high and see out of the car so well, plus the high seats make it easy to get out of. I am too old for bucket seats now. I think you will love your new car. Enjoy.

I have a 2009 GMC Envoy that we bought brand new. I'm looking to trade it for a Subaru cause they have all wheel drive and its icy in Oklahoma. I haven't test driven the Subaru yet though and I am super picky. Didn't like the Ford Explorer I test drove although I like the looks of it.

@Kitty kisser.  I'm originially from Lake Effect snow country up in Upstate New York.  After we bought our Subaru my cousin's husband said that at one point everyone in his family had a Subaru.  Sunday dinners looked like a Subaru convention.
Several of them work in health care; in the hospital, so they need vehicles that can handle whatever the weather throws at them.

I personally can't vouch for it because I hide at home when it snows even a little.  I laugh; but really I do struggle not to panic when the roads are at all iffy.
