Awwww, Mr Kiddie looks like he's waiting for his 'din dins' but there's no plate so he has to stare at yours instead.

Such a sweet face.

Hope this next lot of results shows something useful.

He's a lovely little kitties. I hope they find out what's wrong with him soon. We're all waiting for good results. Thinking of you.

The results are in. Not what I wanted to hear. I dont have enough time on my lunch break to explain in detail but what they found is very resistant to antibodies. I will upload the results later.

Fingers crossed here you are able to talk with vets and can find some good treatment options for Mr. Kiddie.  Will be looking out for the results when you are able to post but I'm not on as much this past week as have a nasty cold virus and sleeping mostly when  not at work.  If I'm quiet please don't take it as lack of interest or concern.  Sending loads of positive vibes for Mr. Kiddie.

Well at least you know what it is now. You are correct this is one difficult bacteria to kill off. Did the lab do a sensitivity analysis ? that way they might be able to determine what antibiotic or combinations of antibiotics will work.  Poor little dude, you are a wonderful family for not giving up on him. He seems like such a sweet boy.

The vet wants to try Baytril for a month at 5 mg/kg once a day.

Thanks for posting the sensitivity test results, the good news is that the bacteria does respond to some antibiotics.

Well the vet choice for medication does look to make sense for the sensitivity tests for the range of infections, so all fingers and paws crossed and positive vibes wending their way over to you that this works.  Mr. Kiddie looks and sounds so sweet I can only imagine what an amazing cat he will be if he feels well - how amazing a gift would that be for him.  You are fantastic for sticking with this and doing everything you can to see him well.

Pseudomonas!  Been there, done that!  I'm soooo glad you got the C&S test done and that your getting him on some antibiotics.  I'd suggest you have him retested in 30 day increments to see if the med is working and to see if his numbers have come down so that he doesn't develop resistance to the medication.  We were fortunate to only have to do 2 rounds of antibiotics on our girl to get her pseudomonas under control.

Eight years.  Her sneezing comes and goes as does the discharge.  We watch her like a hawk and have completely changed her diet to make sure she's in optimum health.

If my memory serves me correctly, we did 2 rounds of either 21 days or 28 days of meds and tested in between and then at the end of the second round.  We had started her on a dose of the meds after the swabs were taken and before we got the results.  Thankfully, that med was one that treated the infection (Zenequin).  We also continued the meds between tests so there would be no lag in her treatment.

I showed the results to our first vet and he said the reason we didn't do a culture and sensitivity test was because we already tried medications form each family. He stated that the Baytril that the second vet suggested was in the same family as the medicine we tried called Orbox, and we tried that for a month. The second vet said she wanted to do the Baytril 5 mg/kg for a month and then re-visit but the side effect to the medication could cause blindness. I am currently looking into Veraflox instead of the Baytil......but I am I wasting my time since I tried Orbox and that is in the same medication family as Baytril.

My first vet said the reason he still would suggest a MRI or CT Scan to find the primary cause....he is thinking a lesions is the primary problem and we have to fix that so the secondary problem stops occurring and/or coming back.

I am confused as to what I should do. Please help.

Your first vet was irresponsible for "throwing"  every antibiotic at the issue without knowing what he was dealing with. What kind of medical professional does that? Every medication has the potential to have serious side effects (playing Russian Roulette with an animal is unacceptable). No wonder there are so many bacteria that are becoming antibiotic resistant. There is no excuse for not doing a culture to see what the issue was. It could have been a fungal issue that antibiotics wouldn't touch.  (BTW can you confirm with your new vet that they looked for a fungus in the culture given where he was living before he came into the house)

I agree with going with Veraflox instead of Baytril. With respect to the suggestion to see what is causing the infection, that is a tough one, I would ask your new vet what he thinks. I am not a vet, but there is no reason both can take place at the same time, but the infection will need to be treated.

Your first vet really, really makes me mad. His treatment approach was beyond stupid. Sorry end of rant

Best of luck I hope Mr Kiddie get better
