suckling

I have 3 four week old kittens. One of them is sucking on the other twos private parts and drawing blood. How can i stop this?

I don't know much, if anything about kitten behavior but if mama isn't around, this suckling may be because he was separated from her too soon. Can you figure out a substitute? I know a lot of people use stuffed animals.

Thanks, i did get a stuffed animal and one of those animals you heat in the microwave to try out. Also some bitter apple to use on the kittens she's suckling on. Hoping this wirks

Oh, I think they're too young for the bitter apple. You can buy blankets with fake nipples. Are you still giving them bottles? You can also dip a blanket in some formula for them to suck.

At four weeks, the need to suckle is great. I assume they are orphans. Are they getting bottles with kitten formula? Kittens need to suckle for many weeks. At four weeks they should be getting a bottle every 4-6 hours each. Offer each kitten a bottle with kitten formula every 4-6 hours until 8 weeks. They are barely ready to wean at four weeks. Most kittens wean slowly betwen 6-8 weeks from mom.

Regular bottles at this age would help. If not, a blanket with a big corner soaked in kitten milk would help. Sucking on another's genitals is NOT healthy and needs to stop immediately.

Use KMR, which is kitten milk replacement formula. It's at pet stores and your vet. They are not yet ready to be weaned.

They need to suckle. You need to address their needs.

They are getting kmr every 4 hrs. Even after just feeding when they are going to sleep she goes right for him. Bitter apple is not working. I tried soaking a toy in honey (which i found suggested on this site) and she wants no part of it. I had to separate them right now, which i don't want to do. I know it needs to stop. Any other suggestions?

Have you tried giving her a blanket dipped in kmr to suckle, as suggested above?
