Were you a dog person at first or a cat person?
What animal made you realize that you are bipetual?

Omg, I'm lol'ing at the title of this.

I was born into a bipetual household! I've had cats and dogs my whole life. Well, we went two years without dogs between 2013 and this year (got a Chihuahua in July). I've always leaned more toward cats though, ever since I was a little kid.

I was definitely a dog person at first!  We had a couple family dogs when I was growing up, and then my husband and I had a Chihuahua who we absolutely adored - we had to put him to sleep several years ago and just never got another dog.  He was such a great dog we couldn't imagine any other dog taking his place, so we went several years with no pets at all.

When I was a kid, I was pretty much anti-cat  -  a neighbor's cat scratched me up pretty good when I was little, and it made me really dislike cats.  Looking back on it now, the cat was hiding from me underneath a car, and I reached under the car with fingers all outstretched to pet him -  so he might have been playing with me or he might have been scared, idk.   I think that memory travelled with me and I just never liked cats, wasn't remotely interested in getting one as a pet.

A couple years ago, I started making friends with this stray orange cat.  I would see her outside when taking out the trash - she was really friendly, so I would stop & pet her when I saw her out there.   That progressed to me feeding her on our porch, then letting her inside the house a few times during the winter to warm up............then on New Years day of 2014, I opened the door for a pizza delivery and Orange Cat zoomed in through the door.  And she has been our 100% indoor kitty ever since.    Of course, she was pregnant, so in march 2014 she had two baby boy kittens.   And we kept them too
We love our cat family very much!  They have brought so much joy to our house and I am so very glad that my orange lady befriended me during my garbage runs!!  Definitely consider ourselves cat-people now!

I have to admit that I was a dog person most of my life, never even liked cats
What changed my mind?? well it was adopting my first cat Misty.

She changed my whole life and mind about cats and I have been a cat lover ever since, I still love dogs tho and I always will.  I will always have a cat sharing my home, couldn't live without one now

I've been a cat person since birth. A cat person who up until recently couldn't have cats. My mom hates them and my DH was allergic.

I've had dogs most of my adult life and they are great but my heart beats for cats. All cats. I've never met a cat I didn't like.

I have 3 cats now and while I do have a dog, she will likely be my last - for a long time at least, maybe ever. She was more my DH's dog. Definitely a daddy's girl. I will care for her for the remainder of her natural life because that's what he'd want. I will have at least one cat for as long as I am able to care for them myself. She's a good dog, don't get me wrong and she's been with us for 11 years but I prefer the company of cats. I always have. I always will. I is what I is.

I grew up with cats, but always loved dogs too. I got my first dog for my 18th birthday - a gorgeous chocolate labrador called Brandy. She definitely converted mum to being bipetual :lol3: I'd never want to be without either species now.

In fact, I may even be TRIpetual...I've always loved horses, and have owned them on and off since I was 14. Would hate to be without my current girl - a little Exmoor pony mare...though I may have to make some tough decisions soon :(

I had a dog and a cat when I was little, at different times. I like both. I don't have time or space for a dog right now though.

I have always been a cat person. I don't remember my childhood without a cat. I had a period of time without one, and actually had a cocker spaniel. But at heart, only a cat person. I loved the dog, but the cats have owned my heart.

Oh, I'm omnipetual.  A real pet addict.  There isn't much with fur that I haven't or wouldn't want to have in my home, and a few things with scales.  Not so fond of feathers, but I like them fine for someone else, and was good friends with my friend's Hyacinthine Macaw.  Brillian bird, and a much better talker than most Macaws.

I had and lost the Great Doggy Love of My Life early on, and have never really bonded like that with any other dog.  Now I've reached a time in my life where I'm no longer able to give a dog a good life, as long walks are not possible.  Somehow, cats wrap their paws around my soul much more easily.  And ratties.  I'm a fool for ratties.  And they only live about four years, so you're constantly in a state of "good0bye" with them.  I learned so much about being willing to love, knowing it was only for a brief time, from my ratties.  I needed that.

I'm just not a dog person, but I particularly love birds and am fond of a number of other pets outside of the top 2.

Nope, I'm not a dog person at all.

I will dog sit for my inlaws when they go out of town. They have a really cute toy poodle, but I'm always happy to send her home at the end of the weekend so that things can go back to normal and I can stop going outside every two hours to walk the dog for a potty break. LOL!

I typically am afraid of dogs, until I know whether they're friendly or not. I've been bitten multiple times.

Nope, I'm not super fond of dogs. I don't hate them or anything, I just prefer cats.

The whole going outside every couple hours to let them potty is part of it, but also I don't like the whole barking, licking, jumping thing. I much prefer my calm lap cats. ;)

I like dogs, but I've never owned one myself. Grew up with a few. I just prefer cats, since my family's first cat bonded with me when I was 4, and I with her.
