Hi

My one year old himalayan fall sick around 2 weeks ago

He stopped eating/grooming and even moving and he was vomitting.

I took him to the vet and after been given some antibiotics the vet gave a can of soft food to feed him by a syringe; I did it for apund a week thrn he started to get better, he first started drinking water by himself then he started meowing for food - he still eating little amounts though. At first he had bloog in his stool but that was only for one day, probably because he didn't eat anything other than the soft food for a week

Today I cleaned his coat and tail with a non rinse foam, when I was grooming his tail he started to meow loudly, I looked closely and saw this!!!!

I didn't notice it until now, his tail got thinner but I thought it was because of the sickness as he was shedding a lot of hair after being sick.

My vet is out of town for the next 10 days.

And he is now starting grooming himself again, but most of the times he is licking "down there" for sometimes then his legs and stomach

I'm mostly concermed about his tail, is it some allergy? Skin infection? Something serious??

Please help :(

I can't tell from the photos, they're not close enough to see a lot of detail. I do see that the photos are taken outside though. I would guess that your cat's tail was injured by something while he was out- a dog attack, a trap, a car.... It's probably infected and painful now, thus the irritation and fur falling out. Get a cone on him so he can't mess with it anymore and go see a vet. Doesn't need to be your vet, go see another one.

I think you really need to take him to a different Vet..he has been sick too long. You cannot wait until your own Vet is back in town...

Good Luck

I agree about finding another vet to take a look at your cat. Have you tried calling your vet's office?  Maybe the vet left contact information for another vet that they have a working relationship with.  We had a family friend who was a vet and when he was on vacation he left another vet's information on his voicemail for his patient's to call. He would cover for the other vet's vacations.

Thanks a lot!

actually with medicine and home made he's been dling much better and improving every and I already shared all that with my vet before he left and he was happy about the result.

He now started to eat by his own and with good aletite and he's been active too.

We don't have many vets and most of them are closed when I finish work. That's why I can't easily take him to another vet.
