I decided to join a cat oriented community :)

I have had cats all my life, and I am totally a cat person. I am not a professional trainer, but I love training my animals just for the fun of it and I like training my cats to do neat things.

This is Danni. She is my hiking buddy. She is leash trained and goes everywhere and meets just about everybody. A cat in the public walking on a leash is a really neat sight to everyone.

We travel all over East Tennessee to visit all sorts of places.

This is her at Piney River on a hike in the mountains. A photographer was there that day and took her pictures and sent them to me. Danni was very friendly and approached the hiker and her child.

Her favorite thing to do is inspect the river and during the summer she likes to swat at the skater bugs.

The car is very fun and a positive place for her. I found if you start them young, they LOVE car rides.

My chihuahua is her travel pal too.

She has memorized a map of where we go. When she sees familiar sights she looks back at me like this and meows. Sometimes she pressed her face against the window and will hop out when I open the door and start exploring.

She especially loves the laundromat. At night I let her walk around inside and outside we walk around town enjoying the silence. In fact today I went there to drop off clothes and did not intend to let her there because we were going to the river but she assumed we were going to the laundromat and she hopped out! Mom put her back inside the car and she threw a FIT. She swished her tail furiously, she paced door to door because she felt lied too. But all was better when we arrived on the road that leads to the river.

She does throw fits when she doesn't get her way. Her big fits happen when we have to leave Petco and Gander Mountain. I wish I could film these fits. She loves these two stores the most out of any place (prefers Gander above all) and when we arrive, she hops out and we walk in between the sliding doors - just like a dog does. She roams and enjoys the stores and at petco she even naps on the condos. But when it's time to leave, she will not go out on her own. I have to carry her and she will struggle when I say "it's bye bye time". Once, leaving Gander, she leaped off my shoulder in the sidewalk outside the store and I turned around to see her strolling back to the sliding doors. Luckily I always keep the leash on. People think it is very weird to see a cat walking on a leash on the plaza sidewalks in Chattanooga hitting the pet friendly stores.

Petco offers a great place to desensitize kittens and train them. Here Danni is learning to ignore distractions and sit on command. Reward is praises and pats or toys, because she will not take treats outside the house. Now she is older, I don't focus on that much anymore. The adventures are all about her. I just care about her leash training and socialization.

Trying out the condos. A+ Product Rating.

Helping me shop for supplies at Gander.

At a huge flea market. She loves her strolly.

We are working on agility with a homemade set. I know Feline Agility is a real sport... sadly they are out of state. Instead of luring with a toy, I use a hand command to tell her to go, then she gets a toy or treat. You can see her focusing on waiting for me to tell her to go.

I have 2 other kitties too, who I don't take out. One is very scared of the outside and the other has medical issues.

Dixon, who was my "travel kitty in training" had his siblings chew is genitals off one night at 4 weeks old, and he is extremely prone to UTIs, so he doesn't travel unless it's to the vet. He's so outgoing so I am thinking a diaper of sorts with an antibacterial pad would be good for traveling and adventures because he really did love it.

This burly tom is Dave. He's not fond of people and I was told he was a persian x American Shorthair but I don't know for sure. He loves us, but he can be stubborn and hissy sometimes. However, he LOVES kittens. He is kitten crazy! I have fostered many kittens and he has daddy'ed them all. He takes them and sleeps with them in a box and he grooms and chirps at them and he gets greatly upset when the babies start getting active. He will carry them back to the nest and chirp at me and ask me to collect them all for him to cuddle and keep in order. He's obviously a softie inside. He has raised both Dixon and Danni - He got Dixon as an infant (along with his littermates) and he got Danni at 5 weeks old.

Sorry I made a huge pic spam!

Thanks so much for sharing the stories of your kitties and all the photos.  What wonderful cats.  And don't worry, it's not possible to have too many cute cat photos.

I love all your pics!  I walk my cat but the yard is his safe place and the front is sometimes scary.  I would love to take him on hikes but he startles easily.

Welcome! Your cats are gorgeous. Danni is certainly leading an adventurous life - I love it! Poor Dixon! Talk about bratty siblings! I'm glad he's doing okay. And Dave sounds like a real treasure! Three very special cats. [emoji]128149[/emoji]

Thank you guys :)

I took this picture of Danni and Dave last night. Danni doesn't mind clothing, she assumed the sweater was a harness and stepped into it but Dave says they're so lame.

You have some adorable cats! I'm so impressed by the way you managed to train the one to go outdoors. My cats both like to go out on their harnesses, but the kitten is terrified of the outside (though curious). My other cat likes being outside, but won't leave the porch.

I love your picture spam. It's wonderful how dedicated you are to their care and to continuing to foster kittens. You could make a children's book of the traveling kitty's stories. [emoji]128570[/emoji]

Thanks for sharing!

I actually am planning on making a children's book with Danni's pictures about her adventures, but I need a better camera for it. Right now I use a cellphone and instagram filters but I want professional level clarity and focus.

I'm planning on doing a book about the historical and significant sites in Chattanooga with her posed at these places, so it teaches children history through a kitty's point of view, which makes it more captivating for holding a child's attention. I know when I was little, books that didn't have a sense of adventure and fun bored me.

I also plan on doing other places too, like Savannah Georgia and New Orleans, but that's in the distant future. I also want to do forest adventures or national parks.
