Random Limping?

My 6 year old make cat has started limping for about a week or so. But it's random. He can be sleeping, wake up, limp for about 30 seconds, then he's fine. Or jump on the counter, eat food, jump down, limp for about 4 steps, then fine again.

Does anyone know what this is about? Is he just landing wrong? I've started giving him Bob Martin vitamins at the beginning of this week and he's only limped once since then for a few steps.

I should also mention he had broken the tendons in his front paw about 3 years ago, so he limps a bit normally. Could be over compensating or something.

Thanks.

Could be that he's overcompensating some and that's throwing off his gate. He's kind of young, but maybe he's developing arthritis? Is he fat? If he's overweight maybe that's stressing his joints to the point where they are painful.

It could also be a combination of things. I wouldn't give him OTC vitamins though, not unless your vet told you to for a specific condition. If he's eating a balanced diet it's highly unlikely the limping is related to vitamin deficiency. If this continues for more than a week, or gets worse, I would definitely call the vet and see what they say. Preferably a vet who knows his medical history and can tell you whether this could be related to his former injury.

Let us know how he's doing!
