Amelia Pond is scheduled to be spayed on Monday. She just turned 6 months old and has had one inexpected heat cycle that ended this past Sunday. She is my first female to have spayed and I am having anxiety about it all going well. Other then the normal after care the vet gives me, does anyone have any other tips or recommendations of things I can do before and after to make sure the surgery and recovery go well. I was only able to take off from work the day of her surgery and the day after to be home with her. Any advice is welcome! Please keep us in mind Monday that surgery goes well!

I'm gonna be in your position soon (although with a 3-year-old cat), so interested in the answers! I had my two boys fixed in August when they were 13 weeks old. All went pretty smooth. Oscar was pretty clingy the next day and didn't seem to feel well for about half the day. Not a lap cat at all but he was that day. So I just held him close and wrapped in him a blanket. He was fine by the evening.

Girls are a bit more difficult since it's more invasive, and they have a slightly longer recovery time I think. I'm a bit worried about the whole e-collar thing with mine (since I know they HATE that) but figure we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
