Hello! My cat, Boo, is about a year and a half old. The cutest cat that can be! Well upon petting her this morning I happened to run her tail through my hand. Well about halfway down her tail, I noticed a hard lump. It is hard and seems to be under the skin. Her alibis a normal color and her fur is completely normal. She does not flinch at all when I feel it. Of course I start to google and my emotions get the best of me. I can't call to make an appointment for her vet until tomorrow morning but until then, has anyone else gone through this with their cat? Any idea of what it could be? I know we are vets and there never a certain answer until she sees the vet but just trying to calm my nerves by asking around. Thank you :)

It could be a cyst or a bite.  I'm assuming that it popped up quickly, so it's unlikely to be a tumor.

Hard lumps are more worrisome than soft ones generally, i would get a vet exam.  If its a tumor, its in the best place to have one.

Still waiting on scheduling an appointment until I get home from work. I have knots in my stomach about this and hopefully it's nothing. Hoping the cost won't be outrageous...

There is a good chance it will be minor.  And if it isn't, being located on the tail is very good.

I know it's been a while but I was wondering what the outcome was for Boo? I have just recently noticed the same thing you described on my sweet girl. Was curious if you had more info now. Thanks!
