I'm sorry you had to receive this news, but awfully glad your vet has a plan for treatment. Sending prayers and positive thoughts.

Thank you guys SO much!!

Yes, one thing good she said, was that lymphoma is one of the cancers that responds to treatment well!
We are starting on Friday!  She had a 5:30 open, so we will be there.

That's tough.   Well done you for managing to write down and let us know how you and Angel are.   I know I would be in bits and pretty sure that's how you feel.   A tonne of positive vibes for sorting out funding for the treatment though, and it looks like that  chemo can get started really fast which is great.  Your vet has some positives there for you to hold on to and that will be really important for Angel, however hard it is to keep a brave face on for him.

You got the results quickly which is good, and your vet sounds really sensible and supportive.   And a whole wide world full of TCS Angel lovers sending you both positive vibes, prayers and everything else they can think of to support you both through this.

Thanks MServant!!  Yes, his vet is really great, I love her! I can email her, & she always emails me back as soon as she can.  .....and she loves Angel! he's such a good, sweet boy when he's there.

Got to go try & get him to eat now, & get something myself. It's already 8:00!  Then, I think I'm going to zone out watching tv a bit to relax.

Talk to you guys tomorrow!  XOXO!!

angels mommy angels mommy So sorry to hear about Angel being so ill. It sounds like you have a good vet and it does sound hopeful. I realize how much you love Angel and how much he means to you. It can be heartbreaking when our kitties become ill. I am praying for both you and Angel. I hope the treatments make him well again and you have many more happy years together.
Please know that we are all here for you and we all care so very much.
Take Care!
Hug Angel from me and my two kitties!

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
Kelly, I am so sorry to hear about Angel fighting cancer! :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :heart2: I don't think you were a member when Lazlo had his fight with large cell lymphoma. But he beat it, went into remission, and stayed there! If you want to read the process from diagnosis to remission, it is here: http://www.thecatsite.com/t/234030/mega-massive-vibes-for-lazlo-urgent

Sadly, I'm here to post in Crossing the Bridge and update that very thread. Lazlo passed on Monday - but it wasn't from a return of that cancer!!!!

I hope your Angel responds as well as Lazlo did to the treatment. :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

Thank you all  so much for the prayers, you can't imagine how very much it means to me!  Hugs back to all of you too!

Laurie! I haven't seen you in so long, I was wondering if you were still around. I'm so sorry to hear about Lazlo!! No, I don't think I was here then. Thank you for telling me that, It's very encouraging. I think I'm still a little in shock,  trying to be strong, but still break out in tears off & on.  It's encouraging to hear about Lazlo beating it. I will have to look at your  thread as soon as I have time to sit down & read it thoroughly.

If you or anyone else here follows Cole & Marmalade on You Tube, Marm beat it too!!  He had it in his intestines. He is such a cutie pie, if you haven't already, you will fall in love with him!

BIG HUGS
to you & Gary as well!!

Oh, I also have good news in the fact that I was able to get more credit on the care credit!!  I just hate the interest is so high, but grateful to have it !

So, I had an idea to start one of those "Go fund me" things, but have no idea about it, so will have to look it up & see how to go about it. Then, maybe I either won't have to use C.C at all, or will be able to pay it before the no interest period ends!!  So
 on that!

On a similar good note, my client today gave me an extra $100.00 as an early Christmas bonus, (she usually gives 50.00) so that will pay for Angel's first treatment on Friday!  (tomorrow).

She is an animal lover as well. She & her husband have had sheepdogs in the past.

So I am feeling a little better today w/ that stuff taken care of, & the good news of other kitties kicking cancers butt!!

NOW,  to get this boy to eat more. he did however for the first time eat almost a whole 3 oz can last night, (all but about a tbs)  so that's good, but hasn't had much today, not even 1/2 of that, so will be getting an appetite stimulant tomorrow as well!   I DO NOT want him to have to have a feeding tube!

Wow, great news on that client giving you a Chritsmas bonus which covers Angel's first treatment.   It's good you are hearing more positive stories as it can help a lot trying to stay focussed on them not to get dragged down too far.  Being surrounded by positive feelings can help Angel so much, and you too.   The Go Fund Me idea is great too, I don't know how it works either but have read about so many people here on TCS getting a lot of funding to help out that way, and also from news stories here in the UK.   Fingers crossed for you as even not having to pay so much interest would make a massive difference I am sure - I know it would to me as I couldn't cope with large vet bills now either.

Loads more positive vibes for you over the coming day, and hope Angel doesn't find his first treatment distressing at all.

Thanks ladies!  Yes, I too hope it doesn't stress him out too much. He will be thinking, "hey, I just went the other day, what are we doing!"  "Noooooooo"

She said it was an injection, so hopefully not bad. I keep a comfort zone pugged in the house, & have a little spray left that I put in his carrier before we go, but if I get a chance...he's been sleeping in it.

Hi all, Angel did really good at his first treatment tonight!  The vet said "he lived up to his name once again!"
He definitely didn't want to be there,( he kept trying to get off the table). The vet shaved a section on his inner leg to find a vein, while the assistant held him.

He did so good last night eating 3/4 of a small 3oz can, but this morning he wasn't interested at all!  I tried again when I got home this afternoon, & he only ate about 1/2 an oz! So next to nothing all day. He wasn't dehydrated, but thought he might be soon if he didn't start eating more, so I had her give him fluids, just to stay on the safe side. She also gave him a B 12 injection, & we got some appetite stimulants. I had her go ahead & give him one, so hopefully by time we got home, he'd be hungry.

He also got the first dose of the Prednisolone. He is still the same 15.2 lbs from Tuesday, so he will take 2 in the am. & 1 in the pm. for 2 weeks. Then, decrease to 1 in the am, & 1/2 of one in the pm.  She also gave us some probiotics because the anti-nausea pills started giving him diarrhea since yesterday, & only very, very small amounts coming out (since he hasn't eaten much), maybe a tsp, or tbs worth. So hopefully they will help.

When we got home, he ate about 1/2 of a 3 oz can, so that's good, just hoping he will eat some more. After it set for a little while, I rewarm it in the microwave, to try & get him to eat more. He also ate some of his Pure Bites dehydrated chicken, so that's good. I also save the crumb & dust when a bag of them are finished & put it in a baggy to save as a topper, in case I need it. It usually will get him eating when needed.

Hopefully between the fluids, B 12, & the pro-biotic I just gave him, he will start feeling better. I asked her if the chemo would make him sick this weekend, & she said probably not, that once the cells start dying off in about 4-5 days, then he will probably feel bad. I hope he doesn't throw up. Poor baby has been through enough!

So that's the update for now. We are scheduled to go back next Friday. I will be out that way to clean a once a month clients house, so will drop him off in the morning, go do that just down the street, then pick him up in about 3-4 hrs.

I'll keep y'all posted!

He's such a good boy. It's great that he is trying to eat, even if it is only a little. Mine love to be hand fed little bits of cooked chicken when they're feeling ill.

I hope he doesn't feel too bad this weekend.

Aww, thank you!

Here are some pictures I took this week of him.

This is Tuesday, where she shaved him to remove the fluid in his chest.

Wednesday morning, he was spooned up against me, so when I HAD to get up, I snuggled him in. I usually make my bed every day, but today was the first day all week it was made!

It was never diagnosed with Freedom Belle but it was suspected she had cancer and since she was 16 I did not want to put her through a lot. In August the vet suggested having her put to sleep and also said steroids may keep her cancer at bay and it was inexpensive and it bought her 5 more months of quality life. I wish you well with your baby. This was 2 years ago and I am glad I got that extra time with her, I hope your outcome is a good one, sometimes it is.

I'm sorry for your loss.  Thank you for the well wishes. Angel is 11 or 12 yrs. old, probably 12, not sure.  The vet said that lymphoma is one to respond well to treatment, so I had to do it.

He is my one & only, and my heart to say the least. I love him beyond words!!   Other than getting him to eat, he still acts fine. He is not lethargic, etc..at all. he certainly hasn't been playing these last couple of weeks, but still gets up in the window to look out, jumps up in bed with me about half way into the night, & still responds to anyone visiting w/ a rub against their legs to say hi.

Knowing that there is a history of it responding well to treatment, I had to give him a fighting chance. I couldn't forgive myself if I didn't at least try. If he were much older, & had a cancer that didn't respond well to treatment, I'd probably have to do exactly what you did. I'm glad you were able to get 5 more months of quality life/time with her.
