Hi friends,  So for the last few days Angel hasn't been too interested in his food, so I'd have to encourage him to eat, or literally hold the dish for him while he ate. I didn't care, I just needed him to eat. This has happened off & on in the past, and if it was a hairball, it usually came up w/in the day or two of this.  He did throw up on Nov. 28th, so almost two weeks ago, for no apparent reason, & once since then, but was from being a little constipated & straining in the box. Poor thing got two steps out, & threw up. He has since pooped normal amounts. (but smaller amounts the past couple days)

This morning at 6:30 I woke up to the sound of him trying to throw up. Only a little spit came out. That was it, I called the vet, & we were seen today.  She did a pancreatic test, & that came back fine.

Also, he just had his biannual (he is 11 or 12) last month on the 6th, & his blood panel all came back great! (Thyroid, liver, blood sugar, & many.many more on that test)

Today, she also did an x-ray and ultrasound.  It wasn't good.  He has fluid in his chest inter-lobe. She explained that was between the chest wall & the lungs. You could see it on the x-ray. ( but he hadn't been coughing or anything)  The ultrasound didn't go much better. There were masses in his abdomen, his intestines were a little inflamed & thicker, & his kidneys also looked a little big she said.
So, she shaved a place on his side, & was able to get some fluid out.  She inserted a needle attached a tube, & then at the end was a big, big syringe to draw it out. As big as it was (prob an inch round) she filled it 3XS!!  The fluid will be tested, & should have the results tomorrow.  She thinks it could be either IBD, or cancer/ lymphoma, because the masses were where his lymph nodes are in the abdomen.  If the test comes back inconclusive, it's either more test, & then if positive for cancer, then test to find out what kind, etc.. SO, knowing finances are an issue for me, (had to use the care credit)   she said exploratory surgery was the other option. she felt like by time I spent a lot of money on numerous test & more test, it was almost better to use it for/  just get the surgery done, then she could see what's in there for sure, & go from there. She sent me home w/ anti nausea meds, so hopefully he would eat. He has been eating 1/3 a can twice a day for each meal, but I've barely gotten him to eat 1/4 can ea. meal the past few days.  He weighed 15.6 on Nov. 6th visit, today he was 15.2.

I am beside myself! I never expected for something this serious to be wrong. I'm trying to be positive, but I have already had my little breakdown cry tonight.   It's just the two of us, he has kept me from being lonely.  He is my heart!!!!!

I am PRAY,PRAY,PRAYING!!!!

Please pray for Angel.

It's so hard when one of our babies gets sick. I remember how I felt when I got the news that Milo had cancer. I didn't expect anything like that and it really knocked my feet out from under me. My heart really goes out to you.

Thanks Margd, I just can't even begin to imagine!   All the support we get from everyone on this site is always so wonderful.

The vet said she could do the surgery as soon as tomorrow afternoon, but it's just so scary.  We are just waiting to see what the fluid testing reveals.

I'm also still paying on care credit for tall the visits, emergency visit, follow up ultrasounds, etc.. from 2 yrs ago when he had cystitis twice in one year.

It sucks, the interest is so high, but was my only option, and am grateful for it regardless. After a surgery, it will be almost, if not maxed out. Then what? that's also a fear/worry!   (as of now, prob. just below 2,000.00 left in credit after today's visit! ).

Oh, no. I'm sorry to hear this. You must be shell-shocked. [emoji]128554[/emoji] Sending prayers. We really never know how much time we have with our pets, do we? Give him a kiss from me and the Robin. Hugs for you. Take care. Let us know what the vet thinks.

Sending prayers for Angel.  And thoughts that the treatment options are positive, too.

Oh no. I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope and pray it isn't as serious as you fear it may be. Let those test results be good.

Hang in there Angel, your Mommy needs you.

Heaps and heaps of positive vibes  from me to Angel.  It's just me and Mouse too and it is hard for people to imagine sometimes how important a cat can be - well other than here on TCS at any rate.    May the tests come back more positive than you are thinking, and you find there are affordable options to get him well.

I hope Angel is up for lots of hugs and kisses despite not feeling too great - if so feel free to smother him in a few more from me.

Thank you all for the love & support!!  The vet just called. It's not looking good.
She said so much, I tried to write it down.

Basically, the fluid  in his chest showed lymphoma cells. She said there are small ones, & large ones, & the large ones are more aggressive, & it said that half the cells were large!  So, from all that the test showed, along with how much we saw the 3 ( about an inch big ea.)  masses in his lymph nodes in his tummy, & the fact that she said she wasn't feeling good about putting him under for surgery with the fluid in his chest, she felt confident & comfortable in saying that we could just go ahead & start chemo. (wow, sorry for that run on sentence!)

I'd also rather put the money into treatment rather that exploratory surgery, only to find out what she is already pretty confident about.  It's not cheap though! She said we would be doing the University of Wisconsin Protocol.

It's 25 weeks of treatment, once a week, She said it was going to be about $100.00/week!!  She said week 4 would be more, instead of an injection, It's a 4 hr. IV. So prob double that, but less another week, so hopefully evens out a bit, although still astronomical for me financially. I will be calling care credit tomorrow in hopes to get more credit to be sure all can be covered. I have always been in good standing, & my credit is good, so shouldn't be a problem.
This is just all so surreal!

Thank you all for your good vibes, & prayers, they are very needed!!!!!  So keep them going please.

I'm so sorry Kelly. I know what Angel means to you, it must be awful to get that kind of news.  At last your vet thinks it's treatable and is going to start chemo soon. I hope you both beat this.

Vibes for you and for Angel. We're all here for you.
