My cat Tinkerbell has recently turned a year old in the past week. Shes a indoor cat and lives here with her brothers, all cats have been neuted/casterated. She has come out in scabby patches on her neck in the past few weeks, and they look awful. I try and clean them when she lets me but she's the definition of a scaredy cat. Her fur is thinning round her neck area and where she was shaved to have her op, has never grown back properly. I'm so worried for her. Someone must have some advice. I will try anything to help my little lady.

It sounds as if your girl is over grooming due to a possible allergy. How long has she had these symptoms?

Are your cats on a flea preventative? If not, that is where I would start. Just one single flea bite can lead to major issues if the animal is allergic.

Second, what food do you feed? Any changes recently? A new flavor of food?

Anything new in the house (plants, carpet, laundry detergent, blankets...really anything)?

Its been about a month now she's had them. They all eat Go cat or Whiskas biscuits. That's what they've been fed since I got them when they were babys. I flea'd them not to long ago there due to be done again but didn't want to apply to wound that she keeps re-opening. We moved house in August. Thats the only thing thats changed. All detegents etc same because I have poor skin my self. I'm really worried because she's the runt of the pack and she's so tiny anyway. I just desperate for help and can't afford vets til end of the month but will be xmas. I just want her to get better, I feel awful. Thanks for the reply:).

Did you change the type of litter? I know some of the perfumed ones made Midi scratch like crazy.

Be advised, I had been using Frontline religiously on my cat for months, and had a horrible flea infestation...cat, house, one of the neighbors got eaten alive when she came over.  I had no idea.  Fleas don't bite me.  A friend recently told me she had the same issue with Advantage.  If you are using one of those two as a preventative, you may need to go to the vet for a very different type of de-flea-er.  Wow.  What a word.  Is it a word?  Dunno.  I need coffee.
