A pregnant cat was given contraceptive injection during early pregnancy by mistake.

What happens if a pregnant cat is given contraceptive injection during early pregnancy by mistake? Will it affect the development of the kittens inside? Will she be able to deliver them without any problem? As far as I know progesteone is given as a slow release preparation to last for six months with the injection and during normal delivery the hormone should be low. So will the high progesterone level prevent her from going into normal labour?

I would imagine this is not great for the kittens. Maybe you can get her spayed instead?

I would talk to the vet who gave her the shot.
