Patches had blood work done for probably the fourth time this year. He had his first IBD flare when he was only 18 months old and had fatty liver 5 years ago. The past year his pancreas results have been going up and they are up again this time. He has no symptoms, no anorexia and no vomiting.
He was gradually loosing weight earlier this year so we increased his pred to 5 mg a day and his weight has stabilized. I have never heard of steroid usage affecting the pancreas though. As far as I know there is nothing to do except treat symptoms. I asked about sub-q fluids because I know they can help with pancreatitis but the vet didn't think that was a good idea because he has no symptoms and his other blood work results are normal.
I knew he has IBD and probable liver damage from the fatty liver. I am guessing this is progression of the digestive issues but there really isn't anything that can be done other than to continue to monitor and treat symptoms if and when they appear.
I have read that pancreatitis can be asymptomatic but I hadn't seen it here before. Usually it has some pretty severe symptoms.
