Im fairly new at fostering, on my 5th litter. The hardest part of fostering is the weaning process, and the lack of direction once there is a problem. With every litter ive had, diarrhea always seems to be the biggest challenge. And with the gals ive fostered for there isnt a specific protocol for weaning kittens. Id like to know if when they are ready for food, whats the best way to ease them onto it without disturbing their gut too much. The kittens im currently fostering have been through several types of food, marquis paste, and ive recently had them on chicken and rice, to no avail, still watery diarrhea. Today i went to the store and got a high quality grain free food im slowly introducing them to,fingers crossed !! These two are about 6 weeks old now, have had all up to date vet care and are energetic and hungry, just the diarrhea. any thoughts would be appreciated:)

Please describe more.  So we have more to analyse from.

What kmr do you use when they are on kmr?

What food types you typically try with as their first foods?

And why Marquis paste?

Hmm. Diarrhea that does not go away in foster kittens is frequently caused by parasites, and changing diets will not make a difference.

Their stool should be checked for giardia and coccidia, and the kittens should be treated for such. Those two parasites both live in the intestines and both cause loose stools.

Let us know what the vet says.
