I got a letter from my mother today - I have very little to do with her as shes not wanted anything to do with me. However, she wrote to thank me for the christmas gifts. Somehow, my wife read between the lines and told me she wanted to go over.

My mother has told me she is not so good and is having to go into hospital on Thursday as they found a lump on her in what would be classed as breast tissue. Its to the side of the breast and carol having looked and felt it - thinks it may be just fatty tissue. Its on the rib cage area, its arrived suddenly - she is up tp date with scans etc - had one last year as she is over 60.
she is hoping - as are carol and I its not cancer - I lost one through cancer a few months ago - I cannot handle a 2nd.

I would love to think you could spare her a prayer or two. Any comments I would like to print and take to her. She would be very touched I know.

I have a feeling that my wife was right and am glad we went over now. I hate seeing her weep, however, well - you know what to think as I am for her.

Oh, Kev, I'm really sorry, and I can feel for your mother. I had my own scare with that in September, and luckily it was just that - a scare, as it turned out to be a benign cyst. She'll be in my thoughts.

Kev - at times like these we need to consider putting aside old grievances and pull together. You sound like you've got your mind sorted in that respect, and I hope and pray that this is nothing but a scare and that your Mum is fine.

Life's too short to hate - there may be bad blood between you, but blood is, after all, thicker than water.

I'll be thinking of you and your family.

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
Kev, i also had a scare a few years ago.I'd lost quite a bit of weight with Weight Watchers, and on doing my monthly breast check found a lump, naturally i thought the worst!.

I saw a breast specialist within 2 weeks, had a mammogram, ultrasound, and needle biopsy, and thank God it was just 'fat cells'!.

After a lengthy conversation with my specialist, he explained all about lumps that can occur in the breast, and i was supprised to find that 90% of breast lumps are benign!!.

Please tell your mum how we are all thinking and praying for her.

Susan

Kev - I am sending well wishes and prayers for your mother and you. I hope that this can be the catalyst that mends the fences between you. I will be keeping her in my thoughts.

Took yours and many others advice -- would you believe it she has apologised a few times to me for being so horrid over the last few years. That takes some doing! Thats not all - following the news last night that after all that worry - it was not the worst case scenario - we did say when she felt a bit better then she could come for dinner. Shes not eaten much these last few months since Clive died - guess who is coming to dinner tomorrow afternoon? Yup - my mother is and shes non stop telling everyone she cant wait.
Of course our son is rather thrilled - nana is coming and he cant wait.
Me - well - I have been bitten more than a few times - lets just say wary is the word. Then again - as you say - life's too short and blood is, after all - thicker than water.

I'm really glad the news was good, Kev, and I hope you manage to rebuild a "functional" relationship with your mother, particularly for your son's sake. Now that your mom's alone, too, she'll probably need your support more.
