6 months kitten with loose stool

Hello fellow cat lovers,
I'm new to TheCatSite but I've been lurking around for quite some time looking for a possible explanation for my kitten's problem.
Penelope is a (probably) 6 months old rescue cat who's been with me for about 5 weeks now. For the first week her stools were normal in consistency but very smelly and she was going to the litter box up to 3 times a day so when it was time for the second dosage of her vaccination (16th Nov) I had the vet run a fecal test for worms. She came up positive to Ascaris and she has been successfully treated for those.

The day after the vaccination she started having very liquid diarrhea around 5 times a day but the vet blamed it on the worm treatment  + bad reaction to the vaccination. Seeing that after a week the diarrhea wouldn't stop we ran another test for worms (Giardia and Cocciditis) and it came out negative to everything.

The vet suggested to put her on antibiotics (Stomorgyl) and pro-biotics for 10 days to rule out any possibility of a gastroenteritis but it didn't make any difference. She was still going to the litter box 4 to 5 times a day with loose stool.

On Dec 2nd we started giving her Normix, an antibiotic specific for intestinal issues, and continued with pro-biotics +  feeding her a mono protein diet (boiled chicken for 4 days, boiled fish for another 4 days and so on)  to rule out any food intolerance. Around the second day of treatment we started seeing an improvement: 2 firmer and less smelly bowel movements a day. Now, for the past couple days, Penelope is back to an average of 4 litter box visits a day with smelly loose stools and flatulence.

All this time she's always been her playful self, she grooms herself, isn't lethargic by any means  and has a very very good appetite. She has never thrown up and pees normally (so she isn't dehydrated, right?). Before trying the mono protein diet, I've been feeding her Schesir wet food  (i know it isn't complete but she won't eat anything else) and Hill's kitten dry food.

I really don't know what to do!

It's worth knowing that Penelope is an ex-feral and has a trauma connected to human hands so she doesn't allow anyone to touch her (not even me) without becoming aggressive. This makes the visits to the vet incredibly difficult and frustrating because the doctor is not able to "have a feel" of her or even just check her temperature. I asked the vet if it was possible to sedate her so that he could perform a full visit, an echography and take a blood sample, but he is reluctant to sedate her. I would go to another vet but he's the only one in my town with the equipment needed for an echography.
 

Do you have any suggestion on what could be causing my lil nugget's belly to be so upset? I'm open to literally anything.

Feed rice or wheat bread mxd with canned. Bread can be pulverized in a blender.Walmart wormer $6 works for me. Socialize by daily petting, soft brush, talking, eye contact. Catmandude

What do you think might be the cause of her loose stool as tests say she has no worms?

We are working on socialisation with play time and she allowed me to pet her a couple times when she was eating (she didn't like it one bit, though). It's a slow but rewarding process.

The above is not great advice.  Cats can't digest grains.  Plain white rice is ok, but not grains.  Also, over the counter wormer is not effective.

This may still be her adjusting to a new diet.  You can add some plain canned pumpkin to firm them up.  I agree with probiotics to help.  I would also recommend going grain free.

Today I stopped the antibiotics and still gave her probiotics (I plan to feed her probiotics for a long time just to rebalance her after all those antibiotics).

Fish seems to cause the worst episodes but chicken goes down a treat. After how many days can I assume a food is "safe" for her?

Definitely rule out fish! I would just keep going with the chicken if it's settling well, but switch to a cat food with only chicken instead of boiled. Boiled chicken and white rice are for when a cat needs a bland diet with nothing else due to digestion issues.

Once you graduate from that and start giving her wet cat food you can mix in a tablespoon of pumpkin if she's still having diarrhea.
