We've all seen surveys and polls about what everyone thinks is the best (or their favorite) Christmas/holiday song so when I found this one on another site, I found it very interesting. It was asking what everyone thinks the WORST holiday song is. This was not about musical genre or any artist at all because so many holiday songs have been redone pretty much every way they can be redone. No artists names are being used for this reason.  This is the list they gave to choose from:

I'll go through these one by one:

Grandma got run over by a reindeer- I remember when that song came out. I thought it was cute for about 5 minutes and then I wanted to fling the radio out the window every time it came on after that. It's so bad in so many ways that I think it will always be in the running for this title.

Wonderful Christmastime- I have never, ever been able to sit through this song in its entirety.

Christmas Shoes- I don't know this one so... ?  There were people who commented that they were surprised it made the list though.

Baby it's Cold Outside- Oh man. Do I hate this song.

"The neighbors might think - Baby, it's bad out there
Say, what's in this drink? - No cabs to be had out there"

Classy!

I also nominate Santa Baby which got a ton of votes under the other category. Ok, so what holiday song is it that YOU can't stand? In case you couldn't tell, Baby it's cold outside got my vote.

I don't know #1 or #3. I think that might be a good thing.

My least favorite is "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." It seems belittling somehow, trivialized, like if you ask someone "How's your little job?" or "I heard you started a little business" or "Are you enjoying your little vacation?" or maybe "I wasn't invited to your little party." It just sounds condescending to me, but I might be the only person who feels that way. It's just a dumb song after all.

Haha, I always loved "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer". Not sure what I think the worst is. I'm sure I'll know by the time the holidays are over though because I'll probably have heard it 50,000 times. I always purge the memory of it out of my head though so have to wait. Surprisingly (and thankfully) haven't heard too many Christmas carols yet this year.

Christmas Shoes is a very sad song about a little boy bumming money for a pair of red shoes so his,  "mama can look beautiful when she meets Jesus tonight"...

The quote marks are around the verbatim lyrics, which keeps repeating over and over....

I do not think it is appropriate for Christmas...obviously the mother is dying and the boy wants to make her look pretty for her meeting in Heaven.

Although Santa Baby is just bad also....

I may have to nominate more later this week!

I never thought about it like that before but yeah, I can see that- and yeah, it is a dumb song.

You are lucky to have never have heard #1. It's obnoxious.

Another one, which has been popular around Boston, for the past several years is an oldie called: "Dominic the Donkey"

Really obnoxious---"eeee-haw"....seriously...

Consider yourself lucky if you have never heard it.

Years ago, the only station which played it was an oldie station. Since that station is no longer living, others stations have picked it up. This year, I have not as of yet heard it; but I know I will.....

I am grateful that I have never heard this one. Maybe you'll get lucky and escape it this year. There's a local radio station (top 40) that starts playing Christmas music 24/7 on November 1st. Sorry but that's just overkill. December 1st should be the earliest anything Christmasy should be on the radio or TV IMO.

Jingle Bell Rock.  For some reason, that song just grates on every last nerve I have.  I want to run, shrieking, every time I hear it.  It's always affected me like that.

My late uncle hated, "Do You See What I See," and always said, "OF COURSE I SEE WHAT YOU SEE!  I'm standing right here, you danged fool."  I love the song, but I also loved his reaction to it.

I stay away from most Christmas music....period. I don't care for any of it. (Although I do go around singing "Deck the Halls" here at work throughout the entire year, much to the chagrin of pretty much everybody in the building. They actually made a rule that "Deck the Halls" could not be sung between January 1 and November 1....under penalty of death.
)

The only Christmas music worth listening to (for me) is anything by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

Fa la la la la lalala laaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

I like Grandma got ran over by a Reindeer it's festive and imaginary I think. I voted for Christmas shoes it's too much like reality ( just pitiful) . I think Christmas should be about making children happy. Theres enough sadness at Christmas time without the tear jerker Christmas Shoes. I realize Christmas maybe hard for some and if you have nothing else you have family I hope but this song just makes people feel sorry for themselves.

Yeah, that's a good pick. That song just reminds me of cheap dancing santa toys. I hate those.

Santa Baby and Joy to the World...because both are sang in a high-pitched squeaky voice.

Another one I find annoying is the barking dogs.  Haven't heard it in a while.  Honestly, I remember when Christmas music was played on Christmas Eve all day and not 2 months before Christmas. They all get on my nerves after hearing them everywhere starting around Holloween.

Here it's either Twisted Sister or the Abney Park Christmas album. I haven't listened to music that wasn't on a playlist for years. Yelling at the Christmas Tree by Billy Idol works too.
