I looked at Mercy wearing the little yellow collar today and realized she needed some accessories. Ordered a lovely little flowered collar on Etsy with a pink bell and our always choice of a name tag from Dr F and S. The little gold plated cat head. I believe they still ship a name tag standard shipping for free. She crawled up on my shoulder a while a go and gave me a head bump. She will gaze into your eyes and blink back and forth with me. I'm starting to believe she was put into production to be here to help me though our loss.

Mercy sounds like such a sweetheart. So good she came into your life. You'll have to show us a picture of her wearing her bling!

What precious bundles of tortitude!

I'm one of those who sees cats as family members.  Before my mother passed, she would call and inquire about the health of her "grandcat."  My sons, unfortunately, see them as little better than vermin, although anyone mistreating one would get VERY short shrift.  Neither can abide wanton cruelty, so we agree to disagree, and they eye-roll alot when I talk about her.

And I begin to agree that little Mercy was a special order for you.

She is so engaging. Grabbed my hand and wiggled around my arm like a little ferret making all kind so trilling sounds. She has glued herself to me. Mook is not a holdy cat. I've tried. She air bit me in front of my nose three times in a row today. The Mook is not up for excessive fondling. She is a beside you cat. Play fetch with me cat. Worship at my feet kind of cat. And Little Mercy is a hold me cuddle me little sprite. And growing. The little collar that was too lose is now going to be close to being tight by the time the new one arrives.

Mook is trying to engage the Mercy in a game of tag. And Mercy is ignoring here. I'm about to pee myself laughing. That'll teach her to be snob for days while Mercy begged for her to play.

The fast moving winter storm last night reminded me how low our stockpile is. You know the important stuff. Cat food. Cat treats, Cat toys. LITTER. You don't know panic until you're trying to scrape three litter boxes together for enough cover so you cat has a potty.  I left The Man in charge of The Baby. Four months still needs to at least be aware out of the corner of your eye what they're adventuring , climbing and squeezing into. Seems the first thing Mercy decided to do was having a flying monkey session. ( Yeah so what I see that at least 3 times a day.) And then, he lost her. I'll give the poor man credit , he fessed up to it. He still looked pale. I would too. HE LOST MY BABY.

Truth is we've both forgotten how much work little kittens are. We had a cat safe home. We've had to make a lot of accommodations to make sure we have a kitten safe home. Hubs got about 3 hours to have bonding time with Mercy. I've seen that he's hesitant with her. It's a rough emotional navigation to be so deeply grieving and still find a way to open your heart. But it's our obligation to do just that for Little Mercy. My hubs wants Little added to all her paperwork. I couldn't find a way to modify my threat title. I know The Man is smitten. He just has to let it go a bit. One joy doesn't mitigate another pain. Both are just part of life.

They are both adorable together! That is great they are making contact. Next thing you know, Mook will be taking her under her wing.

And you're right about having the camera at the ready. I took so many pics of the boys when they were growing up I used up all my phone memory. And I've never done that. I can't bring myself to delete any of the pics, even though I've already backed them up. I also have my card on my regular camera, full of old pics and videos, including some with the Luckman playing with a toy. I took it because I wanted to share the hilarity of it with some friends at the time then realized it would probably just be me that found it that hilarious.

Enjoy Mercy through all these crazy phases. I'm amazed how fast my boys grew up. They're still kittens but well.. more like young cats now.

She be a panther in Tortoiseshell wrapping paper.
I have one of those.  I tell her she's "a pamfer inna jungle," and she looks at me like, "well, of course I am, you silly dolt."  I get that look a lot.  There is just something about that tortitude that gets me grinning every time!  One of my friends commented on cats with attitudes, and I have to inform her, "If you don't want a cat with attitude, get a dog."

I love the fact that both Mooks and Mercy seem to be predominantly black.  Hekitty was, but each time she's managed to lose most of her fur through allergies, she's come back more red.  I think we're about 60/40 now, black to red.  And only three tiny slivers of white, two edging her orange ruff, and one under her left front leg.  What's funny is that she gets mad when I say, "you gots a white spot in your armpit!"  I know people say that cats don't understand human speech, but every single time I say that, she walks away in a huff.  I'm just not certain if it's the white spot or my grammar that gets to her.  Being the cat that she is, I have to suspect that it's the grammar.

I suspected as much.  It's a bit lowering to be corrected by a feline...although quite common.
