Isn't she gorgeous?  The thing with torties is that they a ll have that "wildfire at midnight" look to them, like mountains aflame in the dark.

Her coat is really filling out. It's so soft now instead of coarse. She's lost that prison stank too. It's 62 out. I turned off the furnace and opened windows. never mind tonight will hit about 15.  She's glued to the window looking out. She talks to everything.

She is such a love kitten!  Sometimes I feel like I hardly know Mooks at all.  We need more Mook stories!  And I'm still planning a Hekitty thread.  If my computer weren't so slow, I'd have done it before now, but I keep putting it off.  I have fighting this thing.

Kitten filled a whole room. Demanding , Hello!!! look at me. I'm sitting here un-petted. Get me something. Mercy has so much of that same spirit. As she grumbled and thurummped and trilled across the floor I mused to my husband. I wonder if the people who brought her back thought she was growling at them all the time ?.

Mook is my quiet cat. Not in play , there may be dents in the wall and her skull from the sliding stops and it's a wonder she hasn't cracked a window launching at birds at the feeders. I've watched her slide down the glass like a limp rag a million times. You can stand by a window and yell BIRD! and she's there. She loves to play horrible horrible games for which Cat Daddy Galaxy would beat me senseless with Da Bird. One of the favorites is to use the crackle tube. She runs in . I roar and bang the sides and she shoots out the other end , turns around and waits. I turn around and come toward her and she shoots back in and out the other end. This goes on until I wear out. We slap at each other. Hide and shriek, Usually I shriek. Kitten invented the original game of Hide and Shriek. We lost her once as a baby. Could not find her in the house. We were both crying. And called, Rattled the cheese bag. I opened the door to the laundry room to grab my jacket and she swung out holding onto the coat. I about passed out , she slithered down and walked off tail proud. And thus she learned to lurk and strike. Mook learned it from her. Mook is a hair tie fanatic. Kitten collected them. Mook will steal one and invite you to play fetch. I have a box with about 100 hair elastics on my desk. You would not believe how often I have to reset the power head on the vacuum because I missed one before cleaning. When Mooky walks into a room she will sit down and shake her neck. Yes she purposely jangles her tag and bell. It's her version of Ta-Da I'm here. She also cleans her tags after eating. She is always cold. Something I can relate to. We have to leave a heated bed on year round. She is not fond of being carted around. When she was a baby transitioning to the semi solid formula my  husband had to spend a half hour picking the food out of her ears. She would go in head first. She needed a snorkel. She will not and I wish she would, demand attention.

She has been a little lost soul since we all lost Kitten. I referred to her as Forgotten Cat on my thread about Kitten and being blinded. She really wasn't and isn't. I worry and fret over her. Have rejoiced in seeing her come out of the shell she seemed to be wearing for weeks. Last night she came sailing down the hall , jumped up grabbed the door frame hung there and then launched back down the hall to the kitchen. I won't talk about how that door jamb looks after being used like that for years. It's the one bad thing she does. Not a battle worth picking.

Thank you.  Now there is flesh and bones and a spirit behind the furry pictures.  She sounds like a personalty cat all her own.  I'd guessed that she sort of lived around the huge presence that was kitten, but that behind that, she had her own thing going on.  I enjoyed hearing about it a bit.

I often wake up with her curled against my side. She lays behind my laptop, something she used to hide behind when I put her on the desk to keep an eye on her when she was a mite. That worked for a few days. Then she developed the limp fall to escape. Yep she would walk to the edge. lean her had over and just go limp. Fall on the floor and amble off. She used that to get off everything leading to pillows every where. Walk to edge. fall off. She's gotten much more adept in the last few years. Aside from her fear of strangers she has no discernible behavior issues.

She loves to be in the kitchen with me. When I'm doing something the pink cube will roll over and a little foot will pop out and bat my pant leg of foot in hope of instigating a game. She will also roll her cube in to get a look at someone she doesn't know. Her exoskeleton. She can make it hop too.

That is hysterical.  I've never seen a cat actually use her cube as a mode of transportation!  Hekitty wrestles with hers...or at least, with the one that is still a cube.  The other she repeatedly jumped on top of until it collapsed into a kitty wing back.  That's her summer bed now.  The other is the winter bed.  I don't know why.  The thermostate stays at about 70 year round.  But I can just see Mook and her cube, like a padded, squared-off tumbleweed, rolling through the house!

It's why I think she would like a wheel. I wish I could find one used. It's just not something I can justify buying with all the vet bills we've had this year. We both need to go in for new eyeglasses. Insurance covers almost all of the mans but mine are special order and never fully covered. Plus I have a liking for designer frames.

Do they make sprays like that?  I've never heard of such a thing.  I'm not really sure I want my home smelling like a water buffalo, though.

I probably should. We took it away once because she was using it to ambush Kitten coming out of the litter box room. I thought she was going to have a meltdown.

It is horrible to realize that if Mercy were a person she would be a Kardashian.

Moon on the other hand is a Greta Garbo.

So I couldn't help myself. At Walmart today they had the SmartyCat Hot Pursuit  toy.  20  bucks. This one has 4 speeds. H-M-L and intermittent. The cover cloth is thinner but has so far held up to nonstop use by Mercy. The original CatsPlay was wonderful but only had one speed and the plastic cover often made the wand stick. It also took C batteries. Who keeps those on hand ??? This one takes 3 AA.

The cats wore the old one out. When one caught the wand it sounded like a semi hitting it's Jake brakes.

It is more light weight that the CatsPlay and so it scoots around even on a rug. But that simply seems to add to the fun.
