Mercy weighed in at 4 lb 13 oz as of 1/12/16  . She was 2 lb 9 oz according to the vet on 12/08/15 . Taking her to the vet was like an episode of Curious George.   So that's about 2 1/4 lbs  gained.  She got her rabies and that is it for her baby shots. We'll get her fecal tomorrow.

Mook got a checkup and a full wellness. She was 10lbs 10oz in April and is the exact same weight now. She got a blood test, fecal, urine and heartworm check and we'll get all that tomorrow.  Poor girl hid behind her daddy every chance she got. But behaved like a champ during the blood and urine pulls.  We discussed her grieving process and all of us are pretty sure that she's coping well.

I can't tell you how much I wanted to skip doing the tests on Mook. We have just been through so much crap but hiding doesn't solve a problem if there happens to be one.  We paid for Mercy's rabies since I asked for the Purevax. Like I had to ask since per my interrogation they only use cat friendly vaccines. I know we're paying more to go to the VCA but it feels safe to us right now. And I love the vet we have there. We feel safe there.

Here is poor Mook hiding in daddy's coat. He's now wearing a hair coat. Poor girl she was not a happy camper. She's in her favorite sunny window washing the dirt of the day off her body.

The only still picture of Mercy for the whole visit. We came home with a load of cat treats and new toys. I really wanted to take more pictures. Mostly for our own albums but it just got hectic in there to be waving my phone around trying to capture the visit. Mercy made a point of walking on everything and played shamelessly while Mook was being tortured.

She is now passed out on her favorite perch.

I got to Long Leash on Life and got a load of Tiki Cat and Weruva canned and a bag of Stella and Chewy freeze dried to try.

Oh and I only sobbed once in the vet office while talking about Mook's grieving process. It's still hard walking in those doors. Today we left in a positive mood though.

That picture of Mook peering out from safety under the coat is priceless! [emoji]128149[/emoji]. It really captures her sense of safety in a frightening place. And of course Mercy is just plain adorable, as always.

It's so great you have a vet you trust after what you've been through. It really must make a big difference in everything. I do not even want to think of your ordeal if you had not found this group! [emoji]128062[/emoji][emoji]128062[/emoji]

I hope all the test results come back with a report of glowing health for both girls. [emoji]127808[/emoji]

What adorable pictures of The Girls.   I sort of suspected that Mercy would take over the vet's office in 53 seconds flat.  That seems to be her M.O.

I cannot express to you how happy I am that you have found a vet that you feel you can learn to trust.  Even to make the attempt is getting past a huge hurdle.   It sounds as if all four of you found this experience to be...less traumatic than expected.  With the possible exception of Mooks, who, not having our vocabulary, may take a trip or two.

So the Little Imp has doubled in size, and in fursonality, from what you report.  GOOD FOR HER!  That kitten deserves to be happy.  Ditto her caretakers.  Sending warm thoughts to the four of you across the miles.

Omg! Poor Mook, she is so terrified! Ah well, such is life being a cat at the vet. I mean really, who likes being poked and prodded and having your temperature taken THERE...

How old is Mercy now? She is about the same weight my boys were when they last officially got weighed, which is when they were neutered in August. I think they were 13 weeks at the time, such tiny little fluffballs they were! And Mercy TOTALLY has an Oliver look on her little face there!

Mercy is 5 months. At 3 months she weighed 2lbs 2 ounces. So between 11/5 and 12/5 she only gained 7oz. We've had her for about 5 weeks and she's gained over 2lbs. Hopefully she'll do a little more catch up. We'll know tomorrow if we have a parasite issue. I checked her papers she's listed at 22 weeks. I don't think she was thriving in her first adoptive home. As long as she's growing and not getting pudgy we'll make sure she has access to all the food she can eat.

As you can by Mook's behavior there was a reason we tried to find a vet closer to home. Even a small vet office should be able to handle a blood, urine and fecal test even if they have to send them out.

I think Mook kissed the floor in our house when we let her out of the crate.

Mercy considers her mommy very forgetful. She's failed to stash her in the crate for two whole nights now.

Good evening!

I hope everyone is doing well today!

Good news:

Baby Mook’s lab work looks great J;  chemistries (liver/kidney enzymes/blood glucose) are normal;  cbc ( white/red blood cells/platelets) is normal too!  Urine is concentrating well which is a good sign of healthy kidneys;  stool sample is negative for intestinal parasites.

Little Mercy’s stool sample is negative too!

from the vet visit yesterday

Aw, look at that sweet baby. I want to tickle that dear tummy!
She'll ball up like a turd tumbler and hold onto you.

Couldn't find Mercy then remembered she'd been picking around her crate and I'd opened the door.  Mook went the other way with as much grace as she could muster. No crates for me.

Pretty close. She also managed a test run on her quick release collar. We spent an hour looking for that this morning.

At least you know it works.  Hekitty can get out of any collar I've found before I can sit back down after "installing" it.

It's one of the few things I won't bend on. Collar / tag end of story. The bell on Mercy is priceless to me. Hard to skunk around when you jingle.

I have a new collar on order for the Divine Ms. H,   With any luck, she'll actually wear it.  If I can find one that she doesn't get out of in under 30 minutes and that is still not so tight it chokes, and is quick-release (which is a must), then I'll get her an updated ID tag.  I keep her rabies vaccination tags on hand, but since she's so good at getting out of collars, I never ordered a new ID tag after I moved.

The short term is a small dog collar that stays on under supervision. I guess years of haltering little foals that threw fits has left me rather nonreactive to the whole rolling around yelling and acting like I just dipped them in boiling oil. Mercy adjusted in about 2 days to the small elastic one and less than a day for the collar with a real bell and tag.

You might mention how it compliments her luxurious fur coat and makes her look even more regal .

I will give that a try,.  I am certainly not above either shameless flattery or abject groveling if it will keep the wretched collar on her furry little neck.  I'm also immune to the rolling and squalling, mainly because she resorts to it any time I've displeased her...which is often.  The latest was a few minutes ago when I failed to hand out the afternoon treat allotment at the appointed time...I was at least 3 minutes late.

Please tell me Mercy is a bit more patient!  I'm fairly certain from what you've said that Mooks is the soul of patience on most occasions!

LMAO Mercy has her face in everything. She has a food bowl in the kitchen but the one in her crate was empty. I would say there was a very one sided discussion about that. I filled it. I would dearly love to clean it out and get rid of all that stuff in the living room but while she's out of it she still uses the box, food and water bowl. Since she needs to have free access at her age and Mook isn't a pig I guess this is how I live for now.

Is there anything we won't do for our cats? At all?  And she is such an engaging little scamp.  I really enjoy watching her grow up through your eyes.

I tell myself that if I ever found myself in possession of a considerable amount of money, I'd love to travel around and meed some of my internet friends...your house would be a stop I'd love to make.  I can't see it happening, but I can dream!
