Good morning.

Can you believe it's December already? Only 4 Saturdays left in this year!

What do you have on your fridge door? Magnets? Post-it notes? Drawings by your kids?

I have;

* 6 black cat magnets.

* 4 yellow smiley magnets.

* 1 snowman magnet.

* 1 post card with views of the area in England I grew up.

* 5 postcards that I picked up at various art exhibitions I've been to.

* The bill for this month's internet connection, so I don't forget to pay it.

How about you?

Wow - LOL   Made me go look and actually pay attention.  Well apparently I've just found I'm a magnet collector, along with some important biz cards and some "stuff".

I have 2 Garfield magnets from the 80's, an assortment of magnets from places we visited.  My "# 1 MOM" magnet my daughter made in 2nd grade and my "I
 Black Cats"  magnet that won't stay on my car.

And lastly 4 years of those Christmas postcards a friend of ours (a single Dad) sends of his daughter that we feel too guilty if we throw out.

BTW - Those important biz cards are the vet, the 24 hour emergency vet, our favorite pizza delivery and the Miami Dolphins 2015 schedule.  LOL

I hope you get a chuckle from this - I sure did.

I'm not a fan of stuff on fridges. Too much clutter for my taste. However, I do have a bunch of the New Yorker's Rejection collection cartoons on my fridge, in magnetic frames. These are really sick  cartoons, and my guests love them.

Here's a sample:

1. This is the crowd favorite, and has been for years. The cartoon shows a man with his head in a gas oven, committing suicide. His nagging wife comes into the room, and asks him, "Are you done yet, Mr. Happy? I need to get my casserole in."

2. A cat at a window, turning to his shocked owner, holding a smoking gun in his paw: "What the hell was I supposed to do? [He shot a squirrel.] You had me de-clawed."

3.  A modern Homo Sapiens woman is in a cave, with a suitcase in her hand. She's leaving her Neanderthal husband: "It's not just that he walks upright, and uses complex tools. He also make me laugh." (This is my favorite cartoon.)

4.  Tony the Tiger is eating a dead zebra, and talking to another tiger: "Sure, it was a sweet gig while it lasted, but I'm a carnivore, for Pete's sake!".

5. A Far Side greeting card, which I bought only to display. Two buzzards are sitting on a branch. The "wife" buzzard is on the phone, and turns to her "husband" buzzard: "The Wilsons said there's some poor thing dying of starvation in the next street, and would like to know if we'd like to come over for a little something to eat."

And these are the tamer ones....I won't post the others on the Forum!

Magnetic bulldog clips holding up a small info brochure for the urgent care clinic, the offerings and prices of a local seafood market that sets up shop across the street at an indy grocery store twice a week, and old Feline Future (now TC Feline) brochure, a Better In The Raw brochure. Magnetic business cards for the health insurance nurse hotline, a pet limo service, the groomer, a plumber. An old 2014 calendar / local NFL football team schedule and a 2015 version of the same calendar. Two magnets with the contact numbers for every specialty at the vet hospital, one of the magnets includes a notepad.

I used to have Magnetic Poetry on the fridge but the cats kept pulling the little magnets off... to eat

Nothing on the front; it's stainless steel....nothing sticks.
You know, I've always heard that and was surprised to find that magnets work on all the stainless steel appliances in our new kitchen. They stick to the dishwasher too, which I'm happy about because we need one of those clean dishes / dirty dishes magnets for it.

We have 3 little silver magnets on the fridge - a bird, a cat, and a rabbit. I'm like Fyllis and prefer a uncluttered fridge although it's been impossible in the past with a kid… where else do you put all those drawings?

Oh, tons of magnets! Some are from places I've traveled to (always buy magnets from different towns). Others are just ones we got in the mail from insurance companies, etc. Some have tiny little calendars on them. Oh, and my Pisces magnet that has the fish with the lip ring. Describes me to a T. Mom also has the list of meds up there, in case there is ever and emergency and the EMT can just grab it.

When my daughter was little and in school, we had a cork board in our office next to her desk (yes, we shared an office - I had my half and she had hers. She did her homework and I could monitor and assist when needed. We were "co-workers") and she would hang her drawings and important papers on the board. She had a two-drawer file cabinet and would take them down and file them accordingly, then add new things. When she collected enough of them, we would scan them and save them to a flash drive. (She still has them!). After she finished her homework, she would play educational games on her computer, and later (as she got older) I would help her do research. We were very 'businesslike' and would send each other emails when we were only 5 feet apart!

I just bought her a 2-in-1 Tablet for Christmas because she is starting back to college in January.

On the freezer door (old fashioned top freezer model) I have a set of magnets with roasting chart, substitution chart, freezing chart, cooking measurement equivalents, and four with uses for common kitchen items...salt, vinegar, lemons, and baking soda.  Very pretty, and non-clutter-y.  On the side facing the stove is a printed sheet with very pared down recipes for my favorite/frequently used dishes, just to jog my memory in case of a senior moment.

...with the cats...
i do have things on my fridge, both on the front doors of it and on one side of it.

i have an assortment of magnets -- two 3-dimentional tropical fish magnets, one predominantly orange/yellow colored and the other predominantly blue/green colored; three kitchenaid pink big clip magnets; 4 small clip magnets, three still have their little round farm animal caricature pictures on them -- a rabbit, a cow, and a pig; three thriving pets dot com magnets, and one animal pharmacy (my local compounding pharmacy) magnet; one magnet each from the appliance repairmen, the plumber, and the electrician; a cardboard cutout of a cat with a tiny bow for it's collar magnet; and a small rectangular magnet with a very pretty and artistic painting of a cat on it.

on one side of my fridge:  photos of my niece and nephew, and my mom and dad

on the doors of my fridge and freezer:

i have a drawing my niece made for me 4 or 5 years ago, when she was 5 or 6 years old. it's a cartoon of birds flying and in a tree, and cats. the birds are laughing and saying little things to the effect of, 'nyah, nyah, nyahnyah, nyaaah' (the children's taunt) to the cats. it's very cute, and my niece drew it for me because she knew (still knows) that i love cats.

two photo Christmas cards from my brother's family, these are photos of my niece and nephew and their dogs.

printouts of eggs sizes conversion charts.

the adt alarm system password, on a small piece of paper.

the little neighbor girl's name, which i was working on learning. i'm not great at remembering names.

a 2015 calendar printout from call me victorian dot com -- there's the Eiffel Tower overlooking Paris on it.........http://callmevictorian.com/1662/free-2015-printable-calendar-paris-edition/. this calendar is very popular, and they've been offering these every year (free) for at least several years now -- i print mine out every december for the coming new year.
