Hey Guys,

I'm writing this hoping to get some insight from anyone who has expereinced anything similar.

I have a beautiful 1 year old Kitten, named Luna who is my whole heart. I went on a 10 day vacation leaving her with a sitter, who gave me updates daily on how well she was doing. When I returned,  I could tell something was wrong. I took her to the vet, where they tested her for anemia, (& Leukemia) and BOTH came back positive, with a 9% RBC. Basically she is in critical condition. She is still eating, drinking, going to the bathroom, grooming, etc.
I'm just wondering if anybody has any experience with this. I had never noticed ANYTHING wrong with her prior to t his.

I'm wondering if anyone has lived with a cat with both leukemia/anemia? How did you make their life more comfortable and happy? How long did they live? is there any hope?

I've never quite experienced something like this. it is very painful. She is so young.

Thank you for any comments!

ow horrible to discover this.  There are some cats here with FeLV, and some cats with Anemia...not sure if there are some with both things or not, but I suspect so, as cats with FeLV do tend to get  Feline Infectious Anemia..

Are they treating the anemia?  I know there are things they can do for that, certain meds, for sure.  Even blood transfusion, in some cases.

Was he not given the FeLV vaccination as a kitten?  I thought that was normal protocol.  They are absolutely certain of this?  Here is an article about FeLV that you  might find helpful:  http://www.vet.cornell.edu/fhc/Health_Information/brochure_felv.cfm

Hopefully by bumping your thread up, someone else will see it and chime in.
