Hello friends of TCS!!! My name is Glory and I'm fairly new here. I thoroughly enjoy this site. It is very informative and there are awesome people here! Everyone having their own insight and knowledge. Always eager to help. I thought it would be nice to create a page dedicated to our other precious animals. Don't get me wrong....I adore my cats!!!! They're the most special to me!!! However my husband and I own several other animals that bring me very much joy. Anyone else here also share this? Anywho, everyone is much welcome! Let's share our special babies and experiences with them. And together we can put a smile on someone's face. [emoji]128522[/emoji][emoji]128522[/emoji][emoji]128522[/emoji]

Here are the animals that currently make up our farm:

We have three inside cats: Austin is our DMH, Brown Mackerel Tabby,Maine Coon. He is 11 and a half years old. Sam is our DSH Gray and White. He is 4 years old. And our newest addition,Gracie. She is our DSH Tortieshell. She is 13 weeks old.

We have several chickens. (Unfortunately we've also lost a few to URI.) We have an OEGB rooster,Oliver. His wife, also an OEGB,Bella. Their daughter,Andy. Two Golden Laced Wynadote Roos,Zoey and Brady. (Re homing one due to lack of hens. Too many Roos). And King Roo unknown breed,Alley-Oops. (Was bought as a hen! Alley....hence his name. [emoji]128522[/emoji]). Gabby is a gray mixed breed hen. Joey is a Barred Rock hen. Pasqua and Roozle are young Barred Rocks. Peanut and Flop are mixed as well.

We have two male Muscovy ducks,Moses and Elijah.

We have 5 goats. Buster is our billy. He is a 2 year old Boer. (beige) And 4 does: Sassy is about 3 years old. She's a Pygmy/Alpine cross. She is very pregnant and will kid any moment.(brown/white) [emoji]128522[/emoji] Her daughter,Audrey,is a about a year and a half old. She is a Pygmy/Alpine cross as well. She is also pregnant. (black/white-resembles a cow) Sassy and Busters daughters from last kidding,Sadie(cream/black) is a year old. She is pregnant. And Shasta(dark brown/black) is a year old. She is pregnant. Both are Boer/Pygmy/Alpine crosses.

And last but not least....our two outside cats,Audi and Layla. Audi is a DSH grey/white tabby. And Layla is a DSH Tortieshell. She and he showed up here two years ago. Wild and hungry. The local shelter wouldn't house them. So over time,we have adopted them. I will let no animal suffer!!! They had 5 kittens in April. I was able to catch them and re home them. They had another 6 kittens a month ago. I caught mama and babies. They're at a no kill shelter being fed and then weaned. Mama will be spayed and vaccinated and brought back. Babies will also be fixed, vaccinated and adopted out. Audi is going in to be neutered and vaccinated as well. The homeless cat pandemic is just heartbreaking.

We are working on getting:Horses, cows and maybe some pigs.

Well, there you have it! I'll update with photos soon. I hope you enjoy and I'm very excited to be meeting new folks and learning of your precious animals. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Thank you for taking the time to get to know a bit about us!
[emoji]10084[/emoji]️Sincerely and God Bless,Glory

Are you familiar with The Farm Sanctuary? Your place sounds a bit like them - they rescue farm animals and give them the good life. It must be wonderful to get to know so many animals.

I only have my sweet Chula and Paul now that I'm in an apartment but when I had a house, we had 2 cats, a dog, a rabbit, two parakeets and two hermit crabs. Good times!

No I'm not! Is that something I can research online? Sounds awesome. You know every cat I've ever been blessed with was a rescue!! It is very honoring that God chose me to care for these lives. I'm truly blessed. Hey those are all fur babies!!! I lived in an apartment for several years when I was in California. And I only had my cats. At one time I had 7!!! Not intentional. [emoji]128513[/emoji] But not anything other than a total privilege. Growing up,we had rabbits and parakeets. As well as hermit crabs and cockatiels. Cats and a dog. From the time I was three animals have been a huge part of my life. God willing they always will be. My dream has always been to be a veterinarian. Unfortunately,I am not. However.....if my husband and I can figure out how to get it done,I would love to build a shelter. And have exactly what you described. A place where I can properly house and care for homeless animals. And get them healthy for adoption. That would just flood my heart with great joy. If it never happens,I'm thouroughly thrilled by the opportunity to wake up everyday knowing that one step out that door leads me to a plethora of beautiful and just precious little babes!!!!

Yes, you can definitely research it on-line. They have a terrific web site with the stories of many of the animals and lots of videos of them happily cavorting in the fields. I think their website is farmsanctuary.com.

You would love it, it sounds right up your alley. They have a couple of sites, in New York and California.

I bet all your animals are very happy![emoji]128149[/emoji]

@GLORY JASMINE  Now, this thread is incomplete.. I need proof..
This is Stevie in the pet shop cage - He was persistently looking at me, so I picked him
And this is Conan and Stevie at home
I can safely say that bringing Stevie in, saved Conan's life. I keep them in separate cages, cause they're both males and I want to prevent them from fighting due to "competition". BUT, I keep their cages next to each other and they always manage to sit in a way like they feel close to each other

Losing Bella in such awful way, was a shock to me too.. I couldn't stop crying.. I still think of her and ask her to forgive me for not being able to protect her.. She was a cute, polite and sweet little birdy

Thankfully, Stevie is just like Bella.. He looks like he could be Conan and Bella's son, actually.. I think he is filling her shoes quite nicely, as a companion to Conan. I hope to get 2 females at some point. Because they live in flocks in the wild, Budgies are happier when they are surrounded with more of their kind. I intend to build a small aviary in the future..

I suppose this ratifies the old adage, "Horny as a goat"! LOL

Being raised on a farm, I had always been surrounded by animals of all types! Right now, I just have my two Boys, Kricket and Keeker, and they are all I need!

When I was born, my Mom got a cat (a black Persian) and, even though he was my Mom's cat, I claimed him as mine. He was named Keeker II. The original Keeker died a few years earlier (My sister owned a black DSH names Keeker III and now, I have Keeker IV). He lived 19 years. Later she had a Himalayan named Meerschaum and a Tabby DSH named Georgie. They were all 4 buried in her garden outside her bedroom window and when Mom passed, they were all transferred to the cemetery near her headstone.

When I was six years old, I got my first (and only) horse. He was a black Morgan and he was my very best friend! I named him Houdini because he was an escape artist! The first day we brought him home he got out of the stall and was out in the front yard. He learned open the pasture gate and we often found him and the other horses wandering around the yard. He would remove a halter, bridle and saddle within minutes! He was just a free spirit. After a couple weeks, I just started riding him bareback without a bridle and that is how we rolled for 20 years! I would ride him on the road and in parades, trail rides and just back in the pasture and he would respond easily to hand and leg pressure and verbal commands.

On the farm, we had Shetland ponies, horses, cows, sheep, rabbits, pigeons, chickens, dogs, and a slew of feral and semi-domesticated barn cats. Oh, yea... and we had one goat named Goatrude! LOL

Some (but not all) of them were given names:

Bambi was a Shetland pony that was our brood mare. She and were I actually in the Sunday Enquire magazine issue (October of 1959) with my older sister. I was 2 1/2 years old. They did an article on Shetland ponies that my Dad raised.

Micah was our German Shepherd that I grew up with. I'm not a dog person at all, but she was the only dog I ever really loved. She was actually from Germany! My cousin brought her over when he came to the states. She was trained at the Police Armory and understood both English and German (all of her commands were in German). She was both a loving pet and a ferocious guard dog! We had other dogs as well - Rocky and Major were also German Shepherds, Clyde was a Basset, and Cinnamon and Hershey were red and brown Doberman's.

Our Momma rabbit was a Silver Belgian Hare named Sylvia. DUH!

And the first four sheep we ever owned we named Goerge, Paul, John and Ringo! Yes! We got them in the 60's! LOL

Sook was our Guernsey milk cow. I would ride her back in the pasture when I went looking for the horses. More than once I drank fresh warm milk right from the spigot! Of course, I always shared with the barn cats too! Alas, Dad had a habit of naming some of our other cows too - some I can remember were T-Bone, Soup Bone, Sirloin, Ribeye, and Chuck.

Missy was the matriarch of the barn cats. She was a dainty little Calico. Some of the more friendly cats were also named - Millie, Joseph, Rascal, Smokie, Honda (when he purred, he sounded like a Honda motorcycle!). Oh, there were so many over the years!

Oh, the stories I could tell about growing up on a farm! I am SO grateful for that experience!

Here is a picture of me and my sister with Bambi:

At my house we have 8 cats...7 outdoors and one indoors. Iris is my funny colored inside baby, soon to be spayed, and all the rest have been fixed, shots and the works. All of our cats have been rescued by me with the exception of one! Let's see, I have Iris who is between 3 and 4 months and the love of my life...Momma Cat who is a calico, Baby Boy (BB) a black and white bi colored, Baby Girl (BG) a dilute calico, Miss Kitty a pretty orange and white marbled tabby, Ella Fitzgerald and her twin Foxy Cleopatra who are both torties, and finally Fez a big blue boy who is the one I didn't find, my sister is the one who rescued him off the streets! We didn't give them proper names because we didn't expect to keep most of them lol but we all know how that goes....

I also have 2 dogs, a miniature Goldendoodle named Monty and an spca rescue named Jackson that I am 95% sure is a Border Collie Newfoundland mix (big big boy).

I also have 4 miniature horses! They are a lot of fun. There's my little blue roan stallion D'yoji, he is just the sweetest horse I have ever met. Then there's his mate Pumpkin who is a dark palomino pinto color, along with their son Houdini who looks like his mom, and finally the baby of the bunch Lacey who is a beautiful pale pale champagne and white pinto and the spitting image of her daddy. She was our little miracle baby, we almost lost her during and after birth but she's a big strong healthy girl now! So funny about your horse Fyllis, that's why we named ours Houdini! We could never keep him in his stall when he was a baby.

I have several free range chickens, roosters, and two ducks. RIP many of them due to predators though :( I've lost quite a few pets within the last few years as well but that seems to be for another thread :)

@GLORY JASMINE
Now, this thread is incomplete.. I need proof.. :eyebrows:  It would more awesome if you.. SHARED PICS OF ALL YOUR ANIMALS!

As for me, currently, I have Grizzly (as you all know)..

I also have 2 male budgies. Conan and Stevie. Up until last year, I had Conan and his wife Bella. They were already a pair, from when they were in the petshop cage, still. So I bought them together. They mated during last summer and Bella started laying eggs.. But unfortunately, there are many predator birds flying around in my area, so one of them attacked the cage and sadly, Bella was weaker due to labor.. So that damn bird snatched her.. :sniffle:  This left Conan in shock, alone and wanting nothing to do with their eggs.. :(
Conan was slowly sinking in depression so I finally stopped trying to make him look after the eggs.. 4-5 days had passed and there was no point.. So I took the nest out of the cage and burried the eggs in one of the flower pots.. After a week, I decided Conan needed a new friend, or I'd lose him too.. So I bought Stevie! At first, we thought Stevie was a girl. We named "her" Stevie anyway, cause we noticed "she" tilted "her" head like Stevie Wonder :D  Stevie was 4 months old, that's why we couldn't make out his gender yet.

After about a month, we noticed that Stevie was actually a boy! LOL So, the name fitted even better

You've already seen Grizzly, so these are photos of Conan, Bella and Stevie

:heart3:  These are Bella and Conan :heart3:

This is Stevie in the pet shop cage - He was persistently looking at me, so I picked him :shocker:

And this is Conan and Stevie at home :9:

I can safely say that bringing Stevie in, saved Conan's life. I keep them in separate cages, cause they're both males and I want to prevent them from fighting due to "competition". BUT, I keep their cages next to each other and they always manage to sit in a way like they feel close to each other :hugs:

Losing Bella in such awful way, was a shock to me too.. I couldn't stop crying.. I still think of her and ask her to forgive me for not being able to protect her.. She was a cute, polite and sweet little birdy :heart2:  Thankfully, Stevie is just like Bella.. :)
Now now there!! Settle down! If you were paying attention to the original post, you'd see that at least I mentioned updating with pics soon. What I didn't say ,because I thought everyone would still enjoy it and didn't want y'all waiting on me,my service down here in the boonies stinks!!!! A lot of times I don't get the option to attach pics. [emoji]128554[/emoji] But my dear I'll do all I can to get those pics on here if it's the last thing I do!!! Because these Babies of ours DO EXIST!! Lol
I love your birds! We had birds growing up. I'm truly sorry about Bella and their unborn babies. [emoji]128554[/emoji] it is always so devastating....

Lol ha ha ha!! Yup he's strutting around the pen very proud of himself! Although I'm noticing that he's starting to become impatient with the does and their ability to procrastinate on the whole "kidding " thing!!! I,too,am very frustrated with this but for very different reasons!! Lol I advised him to stagger his "encounters " next time. [emoji]128536[/emoji]

Ok this goes out to everyone who wants pics and videos......IM WORKING ON IT! Lol. No kidding around but for real I already have tons of pics of them waddling around looking like barrels! As well as a few videos of Sassy sounding like she's snoring while awake! When she's laying down,I think those kids are putting so much pressure on her. But not to the point of her being unable to breathe!!!!!! She's just fine. And then it doesn't help when Buster lays down right next to her sooooo close and smooshes her into the back fence of the barn!!!! He's being super protective!!!! But you guys mark my words, you'll have so many pictures soon that you'll have to turn a page just from me! Lol love ya guys. [emoji]10084[/emoji]️

I'll start out with the goats!!!
This is our proud papa,Buster. Aka:Buster Boo! Lol. He is a Boer. (And our late hen,Brenna.)

And here he is with Audrey in the background and Bella. Our old English game bantam. (OEGB)

Here is our bestes mama,Sassy. And her name is most fitting. Although when she's prego, she's an absolute lover!

This is our Audrey. Aka:Audrey Moo Moo and Augie (moo moo). She is Sassys daughter from her second kidding . (Audreys sister died before we actually bought her and Sassy. We wanted all three. Her sister had the same markings but brown and white. We were also informed that Sassys first kidding was also two girls. Only one lived. So if y'all are paying attention, out of three kiddings, she kidded two girls each. (Total of 6 girls) The first two kiddings, one died each. So... Her very first kidding, she bore two girls and one died. Her second kidding, she bore two girls and one died. We have the live one from her second kidding ,Audrey. You follow??? To be continued......)

This is our Sadie. She is Buster and Sassys daughter. Not very good I know. I'll show another picture of her before she got so prego!

And here is the continuation I promised! For the first time in Sassys birthing history, both of her daughters lived! And it was right here with us. So so blessed! This is our Shasta. Just like her mama.

Here are a few of all of them together. (Note:some of these are before all of the does started blimping out!)

Here are a few of Sadie and Shasta as doelings. They were the cutest!
This is Sawyer-2 months,Audrey's son,and Sadie-3 months.
This is me and Shasta a few days old.
This is me and Sadie a few days old.

Audrey also had her first kid in January. His name is Sawyer. He was sold a few months ago. Very hard to do. But only one Billy is needed. Good thing is our friends/neighbors now own him. Here he is just days old. (I haven't any pictures in my iPad of him at 6 months. He looks just like his daddy! Buster...)

I'll be working on the cats next! I hope y'all enjoy! I'm sorry for the delay. My service has a mind of its own. [emoji]128522[/emoji]
