So I've realized recently that Toothless has a very sensitive stomach when it comes to certain foods. When I first got him, I was weaning him off soft food, because I noticed it gave him really nasty diarrhea. Once he was on dry food he was fine. Then the other day, my grandma had given me some soft cat treats for him, but he ended up throwing them back up. Could there be a specific ingredient in the food that maybe he's allergic to?

That's very possible. Common allergens include grains, potato, fish, chicken, gums (such as cassia gum, guar gum etc). It can vary so much though. Start by looking at the ingredients on the treat bag and comparing them to the ingredients in his kibble. That should narrow things down a little.

Some cats just have sensitive tummies too. It isn't necessarily a full blown allergy.

Also, look at the time lapse between his eating the treats and vomiting. If it happened pretty quickly, it could simply be that he ate too fast!

Having said all that, if the vomiting continues then you may need to take him to the vet. Hopefully it was just the treats though.

Is he toothless? If so, you should really offer him wet food as opposed to dry food as its much easier for a cat to eat if they are missing teeth. Yes, it possible he has a food sensitivity but it's also possible that because it was a new food it upset his tummy. You can search the threads for recommendations for wet foods if you're interested in introducing some wet foods to him.

He's not actually toothless, it's just his name. Like the dragon. I should probably clarify that whenever I mention him. And he's ok with the hard food. The soft food would give him really bad diarrhea.

I'll have to look at the ingredients shared between the two. With the treats, it might be that he ate too fast, or because it was new. I just want to take good care of my baby, and that includes figuring out if it's allergies or a sensitive stomach.

Oh lol, i was assuming it was because he had no teeth! I think a lot of cats get diarrhea when they are first given a new food. Although if you fed it more than a few times its possible something in it bothered him. Lower quality foods contain more fillers which can cause tummy upset. What brand was it? And what brand of kibble are you feeding? I wouldn't let that keep you away from feeding him wet food though. Wet food is really important for cats because they get the majority of their water intake from wet food. A diet of only dry can lead to medical issues later in life like kidney disease. I would encourage you to try again but give him a different brand. You can also mix in some probiotics to his wet food to help with diarrhea if that occurs again. I have kittens and they get diarrhea really easily. I give all my cats a probiotic in their wet food every morning and everyone has perfect poops. There are tons and tons of posts on here about good foods to feed. Here's a few of the ones I like -

Fancy Feast Classic Chicken, Nutro Natural Choice, Soulistic from Petco, Nature's Variety Pride, Weruva, TikiCat.

The wet food was Friskies, and the dry is Purina indoor. There haven't been any problems when it comes to either food with any of our other cats. I wouldn't have such a big issue with the diarrhea if his litter box want in my room. But it was horrible when he had it, and I'm not willing to replicate that any time soon. I might try if I cab get ahold of some probiotics, though. I just want to make sure he's healthy as can be.

I'm a little late to the party here, but we had a similar situation with our kitties. They had loose stools which were very stinky.  Our vet recommended trying to remove different protein types until the diarrhea gets better. give it 5 to 7 days for each protein type to really get a feel for it. We fed only fish flavors for a week and they got better, When  we added chicken the next week they went bad within a day.So it turned out to be a sensitivity to poultry- If we feed them anything with chicken of any type it comes right back.

 Good luck!
