DD, DH and I went down to the Florida keys for our anniversary. It was here that I confirmed what i suspected all along. DH liked cats despite always denying it. We were on Islamorada and had just had dinner. We were walking around by the water and all of a sudden, I turned to say something to DH and there was a bunch of stray cats behind him. They are all over the keys. They were following him like he was the pied piper. He had the bag of leftovers in his hand, grilled steak and chicken. He turned to look at them and they all sat and stared at him. He opened the box, tore all the meat into small pieces, put the container down and waled away. They were all over it. I just looked at him and said, "You like cats, don't you? I KNEW IT!" He had to admit it. He was the kind of person that cats were drawn to like magnets despite his allergies. Even cats who normally avoided people they didn't know couldn't stay away from him.

So many! But one I'll never forget is when I went to NJ/NY/PA over 9 days. I stayed in NJ the first week, and then I was supposed to fly to Philadelphia from Newark. Well, there were clouds in the sky, and the flight got canceled. Not delayed, just canceled. It was July and while I loved my family that I was staying with, there was no air conditioning and didn't want to stay overnight again, lol. So booked a train from New York Penn Station, which is where I thought my uncle had told me we'd be going out of.

Oh yeah, this was before cell phones were a thing everyone had (1998). And stupid me didn't have my friend's number, and it was also before phone numbers could be found online. Wait, I couldn't get online anyway, so it didn't matter. So, I tried to call my parents (figuring my friends would call them when they realized my flight was canceled). Couldn't get through. I had to call a friend that had two phone lines and SHE was able to get through.

Meanwhile, my friends saw the flight was canceled, and sat around wondering how they could call my house and tell my parents my flight wouldn't show up, lol.

So, we take off for the train station. Turns out there was a NEWARK Penn Station, which was what my uncle had said. D'oh! I had to call my friend with two phones again, to call my parents and relay the new information, and hope my friends would call again. Which they did eventually, although I don't know which information they got (or if they got both perhaps). Of course, the question they asked was, which train station in Philly? My parents didn't know because I didn't tell them!

So I get on the train, thinking about what the worst thing that could happen would be. I supposed I would end up spending the next two days in the train station. For some stupid reason, didn't think of taking a cab to a hotel. Probably because I didn't have money for that, ha. I get to the train station in Philly, and sit somewhere. It felt like forever. Then I had to go to the bathroom, but was afraid to miss them if they did show up. Well, nature won over, and I dragged all my crap with me to the bathroom.

When I came out of the bathroom, I saw my friends walking into the station. I was never so relieved to see someone!! I think we ended up going to Philly, just to turn around and head back to NJ the next day (Atlantic City), which was pretty ironic.

Staying at a lovely B & B at Niagara-on-the-Lake in Canada for one of our wedding anniversaries. The B & B was truly lovely with a gas fireplace that we used every night. We were able to visit the Falls, the butterfly house, several vineyards, the canal locks, and just spend the days strolling around everywhere. Enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Angel Inn...we always visit the Angel Inn once when we go. We love NotL anyway and love visiting there, but this was very special to us. Some friends from western PA came up to spend a day with us. We had such a relaxing visit and it was wonderful.

Going to Las Vegas many, many years ago....the one and only time I've been on a plane (and I doubt I'll ever get on a plane again). I don't gamble; I find it boring, but I did enjoy walking the Strip. As I mentioned in another post, Rick had conferences during the day, so I did some sight-seeing with other ladies...the Valley of Fire will always stick out in my mind as it's gorgeous, just beautiful. I would have loved to have been able to spend more time there (and preferably on my own). Hoover Dam is an incredible work of engineering. I found it fascinating. And, of course, the Grand Canyon.

We did a lot of camping when we were younger and some of our camping trips were great, simply because of little things that made them so. Sitting by the campfire one night and watching as at least 30 deer came down from the mountains to visit in a clearing across the road from our campsite. What a breathtaking sight. Another trip, another campfire and we saw a bright shooting star that lit the entire sky from one horizon to the other.
