So here's the history. He's been eating kirkland brand dry food which he only seemed to throw up if he ate too much or had a hairball. We took him to the vet and had him checked out but he couldn't find anything. Lately it has been getting more frequent so we thought maybe the food wasn't agreeing with him so we purchased a bag of blue buffalo for sensitive stomach and very gradually mixed it in with his old food and slowly the mixture got more and more of the blue buffalo. Now he throws up even more often. Sometimes he doesn't eat very much. I watched him just yesterday sit down and have a small amount and literally take 2 steps from the dish and throw it up. We haven't even got to him eating straight blue buffalo yet. He is still eating his wet food and drinking water, pooping and peeing normally. We plan on taking him to the vet again just to be on the safe side but does anybody have any suggestions?

What tests were done on him? It may be that he needs an ultrasound or x-ray to check what's going on inside.

Alternatively it could be that he's become allergic or intolerant to the main protein found in the foods (like if they're both predominantly made of chicken, I apologize I am not familiar with those brands, we don't get them in Australia) or even another ingredient that is in them.

Last but not least it's worth getting IBD ruled out with a vomity cat. I had a cat who had relatively frequent hairballs and vomits and he got worse as he got older. It turned out he had IBD.

Found out the problem, just got back from the vet. The problem was the food we switched him to. He started growling and hissing and licking himself down south so we went to the vet to find out he had a urinary track blockage. It is cleared now but the vet showed us his urine through a microscope and you could see the crystals. Long story short DON'T FEED YOUR PETS BLUE BUFFALO !!!

Oh it's thankful you got him to the vet when you did!!!! Mine had a blockage too that I believe was from too much fish products in his diet that will do it too. Increasing water intake and switching to wet food if you cat is the key.

He's always had wet food and drinks lots of water. The vet sold us some canned food specially formulated for this problem and also recommended a dry food which we are picking up today. Our vet showed us the pan that the cat had peed in after the vet had cleared the blockage, I couldn't believe what came out of him, poor little guy.
